My Character Sheet: -Name: Ramona Chapman-Vause -Gender: girl -Age: 15 -Parents: Alex and Piper -Appearance: 5'3, brown hair, pale like alex, very dark brown eyes. -Temperment: quiet but tough. curses ALOT cause lol her moms were in prison -Hobbies: equestrian. has a 17.2 hand grey thoroughbred mare named Balboa, Alex has a 16.2 hand chestnut warmblood gelding named Pepperoni, and Piper has a 16 hand palomino hanoverian mare named Honey. -Backstory: Alex got a reduced sentence and got out a year after Piper, they got officially married and adopted 10 year old Ramona. They moved to a quiet town called Riverdale. Alex still had a TON of money left over from her job as the head of the drug cartel so they bought a nice big house on the edge of Sweetwater River. They fed into Ramona's passion for horses and built her a 3 stall barn and a riding arena. They decided to try it as well, and they fell in love with riding just as much as her. The prison part of their past is behind them and Piper got ownership of the soap company from Polly and now she and Alex run it in Riverdale. Ramona is from California, and when she was at her foster home she was not only riding horses but also in the ocean. Ramona loves to skimboard and be submerged under the water, preferably the Pacific Ocean.

Name: Holly Blossom-Topaz Gender: Girl Age: 15
Parents: Cheryl and Toni Appearance: 5'5", sandy-brown hair, tanish skin (in the middle of Cheryl's and Toni's color skin), brown eyes Personality: loves adventuring, loyal, funny, curses sometimes, a bit of an introvert, mostly sticks with close friends Hobbies: Throwing Knives, Archery (although prefers the knives because they're easier to carry around), explores Backstory: After all the events in Riverdale, things started to slow down. Toni moved into Thistlehouse with Cheryl and announced to the rest of their friends that they have a child (me). I got really into throwing knives after the first attempt at archery with Cheryl didn't go so well. Toni introduced the knives it was her fault. One day while adventuring I stumbled across a really big house by Sweetwater River after being told not to go there millions of times, but I didn't listen (of course not). Made friends with the girl living there. Cheryl reopened the maple company when money started to run dry and with the help of Toni kept it running (with no drugs of course no illegal shit here).

Riverdale was quiet, for once. I was out in the back of the Thistlehouse throwing knives at the target that Cheryl, my mother practices her archery on. The target was white, with red paining around the outer edges, and a scrawly red B right in the middle. Ironic right. I was bored, if you couldn't tell. There was nothing to do in the house-mansion. I say house-mansion because it's not quite big enough to be a mansion, and just a bit too big to be a normal house. I sighed as I angled another knife at the target and threw. The knife, a perfectly polished silver blade with a midnight black handle went spinning across the yard. The knife finally came to a halt slamming into the board. I closed my eyes, leaning my head back. Wind blew by me, and my hair blew softly in the breeze. I crossed the yard to the board, wedging the knife out from the wood. I spun the knife in my hand and sheathed it in the black leather sheath that's attached to my belt. I sighed, looking down at my clothes to see if I got any dirt on them. I was wearing a black crop-top with black skinny jeans and black vans. 'Stay inconspicuous while looking cute' my mother always told me. I looked up at the house, running my hand through my sandy-blonde hair that was parted to the right at the moment. My mother was sitting at her desk, which you could barely see through the window. The outline of her form was visible though. Her form lifted her hand, and I'm pretty sure she waved and wasn't just reaching for a cup of coffee. I waved back. The bush rustled behind me and my hand automatically found the handle of my knife as I whipped around. Immediately getting into a fighting stance and turning to face the bush. "Ready to impale me at a moments notice, bitch?" there's teasing lilt to the voice, and I smile, "Stop sneaking around my house dickhead, I have years worth of unfortunate reflexes. I wouldn't be surprised if I sent you to the hospital on accident because of you sneaking around the back to try and scare me."

I squeezed my calves and smacked my lips together, and Balboa's canter got faster. I shortened the reins and pulled her head back slightly, and her canter strides got shorter and my core tightened up as we rode the smaller strides. I swiveled my legs back to her flank and she changed her lead twice. "Good girl." I whispered, and moved my hands down so she could lengthen her canter. She got faster and i smiled and slowed her down to a walk. I patted her sweaty neck and she shook away the flies on her face. As i let her cool down, I looked at the river just feet away from my riding arena. It was beautiful and fun to swim in, but it was nothing compared to my California coast with the sun and the saltwater and the warm sand under your feet. I'm not complaining, though. I used to live in a one bedroom shack with my foster family and now I live in a mansion along a riverbank with two rich moms and three horses of my own. Life is good. I hopped off of Balboa and led her to the cross ties. I unhitched her girth and laid it over her dressage saddle as it pulled it off her back. I walked into my tack room, which has six saddle racks, six bridle hooks, a shelf, and a little cafe table in it. I slid her dressage saddle on the rack and grabbed my bathing kit. Balboa snorted and backed up a little when i squirted the soap on the sponge, which made me laugh, because she is basically 20x the size of the sponge. As i rubbed the sponge on her side, I heard the back door close, which meant one of my moms was coming to the yard. Probably Alex. "Hey kid, how was Bal today?" my mom, Alex asked, as she came up behind Balboa. She ran her hand along her white grey side and gave her a scratch underneath her poll, where she likes to be scratched. "Good, we practiced shortened canter. She did really good." I responded, moving to her other side and soaping up her fur.
"That's good. Just wanted to check on you." Alex said, patting my head and turning around to walk back inside.
"Okay, thanks mom." I replied, grabbing the hose and finishing washing Balboa. When I was done, I took off her halter, and she ran right into her stall. I laughed and hung up her halter on her stall door, and I went inside my house. ----- "Where are you going Ro?" my mom, Piper, called from the kitchen as I opened the back door.
"Just gonna go into town for a while mom. I'll text you!" I yelled, and slammed the door. As I passed through the backyard, I gave each horse a small peck on the nose, and they watched me as I closed the backyard gate.
I started running along the riverbank, straight towards Holly's house. Holly is my best friend. I met her on my first day of school in Riverdale. It was in fifth grade, right after my moms adopted me. She was the first person to talk to me, and we have been inseparable ever since. Except for one thing. When our parents met, her moms were not fans of my mom's prison experience. In fact, they left our house as soon as they learned that. They think either my moms will drug her with the drugs my mom sold over a decade and a half ago, or that I will somehow infect her with my "badness". It's bullshit. Especially since her moms were part of a gang when they were teens. They think that Holly has severed all ties with me and that we have not spoken since, which is funny, since they learned that about 3 years ago, and we see each other every day.
Her house was a few streets down from mine, still on the river. I hopped her fence and snuck through her bushes. I could hear her doing archery, just like Cheryl. I rustled a little bit more until she heard me, and I saw her grab her knife. "Ready to impale me at a moments notice, bitch?" I teased, and her hand tensed up and she dropped the knife into it's holder.
"Stop sneaking around my house dickhead, I have years worth of unfortunate reflexes. I wouldn't be surprised if I sent you to the hospital on accident because of you sneaking around the back to try and scare me." she responded, and I giggled.
"I'll be right back." she then said, and ran inside, probably to tell Cheryl or Toni she was gonna go to the Whyte Wyrm. About a minute later, she came running out of the door, and we snuck out of her yard and ran into town. Little did we know this day would bring some unexpected news that would soon control our lives.

"Bye!" I yelled closing the door. Barely hearing them say bye back. I laughed as I saw Ramona's head barely peeking out of the bushes. I flung myself over the fence with ease. I laughed as I broke into a sprint as soon as I hit the ground. I could hear Ramona's shout of protest before her footsteps could be heard with mine. I kept running, the knife bouncing on my thigh. The wind whipped by my hair and I kept dodging stray tree branches here and there. The woods are a quiet place, when you aren't running full speed through them. We reached the end of the woods. I was a bit in front since I started before her, but we were both equally out of breath. Ramona laughed and slowed to a stop right next to me.
"That's not fair!" She yelled, laughing at me. "You started before me!"
I laughed, "All's fair in war." She bumped my shoulder, starting to walk to the Whyte Wyrm. Technically, the Serpents were disband, forever, a while ago. There are still a few of us, like me, who's parents were a part of the Serpents, are still technically deemed the Serpent title. My mother did have a bright red Serpent jacket after all. That's a bit hard to forget about.
"WHICH ONE OF YOU FUCKING PEOPLE---" I widened my eyes in shock after hearing the yelling and the crash come from inside the bar. I turned and looked toward Ramona, she had the same confused expression I wore. I started toward the bar, my hand automatically going toward the knife on my belt. I heard Ramona's footsteps behind me.
"Are we really going in there?" Ramona said from behind me.
I turned to look at her, "Only for a moment. I just need to see--" Another loud crash sounds from inside. I swing open the door, my knife already in my hand. The Serpent King - Mr. Jones - was yelling and throwing a few things around the bar. I was extremely confused. "Mr. Jones! What's going on?" I yelled over his shouting.
He turned to me, "Archie is missing, and someone set the high school on fire!" I stared back at him.
"What?" I asked, stepping one step back, unconsciously putting my knife away. "The school's on fire?"
"Best thing to happen to us all summer." Ramona muttered under her breath.
I chuckled turning my attention back to Mr. Jones. Who was currently fuming about whatever the new issue was. "You know I was just here so I could check in with you. Now, if this is none of my business I'm going to go into town now."
"Have you been listening to me!?" Mr. Jones yelled, "Archie is missing!"
"I heard, just frankly don't care. The school, however, that's amazing, I'd like to shake hands with whoever did that." I hear Ramona snicker behind me.
"It barely even scorched you're just over-reacting." Sweetpea, one of the older Serpents, around the same age as Mr. Jones, laughed from behind him.
"Well Archie's missing--" Mr. Jones started.
"And you and your wife can go on one of your mystery hunting journeys. Like the old days." Sweetpea said, smacking Mr. Jones's back.
"We're too old for that come on." Mr. Jones said, turning around and looking at Mrs. Jones, the Serpent Queen, at the other side of the bar.
"I'm leaving now." I say turning around at the same time Sweetpea asked if she was a detective to Mr. Jones. "Just checking in! If my parents call say I was here, if they come tell them I went into town with some friends. Okay bye!" With that I ran out the door, Ramona on my heels. I laughed, "Mr. Andrews is missing. Can you believe that? Years of nothing and all of a sudden, he's gone!"
"It's a bit overdue, honestly." She laughs right next to me. We were following the road into town, effectively staying away from our parent's houses.
"We're going to somehow get involved with this aren't we?"
"We are."

I squirmed around in my booth while waiting excitedly for my cookie dough milkshake.
"Stop squirming, you're so annoying." Holly joked, kicking me under the table. I kicked her back and we started to laugh, but we got quiet as sweet old Pop appeared with our milkshakes. He handed me my cookie dough, and he gave Holly her strawberry. Of course.
"Strawberry girl." I teased, and she kicked me one last time. We took sips of our milkshakes and chatted for a few minutes until the atmosphere changed. Something felt off.
"Do you feel that?" I asked, and her eyes widened.
"My moms!" she exclaimed, and I darted for the restrooms. I hid behind the door but cracked it a bit so I could see what was going on. A crying Cheryl burst into Pop's with Toni on her arm, rubbing her back with a concerned look on her face. Holly rushed up to her mom and hugged her, and all the eyes in the diner were on them.
"What's wrong, Miss. Blossom?" Pop asked, walking up to Cheryl. She looked at him with wide eyes and then scanned the diner, and saw everyone was waiting for an explanation.
"Archie Andrews is missing...! Veronica said he went out with a friend the other day and he hasn't come back since...she has a feeling he is dead...Archie..." Cheryl exclaimed, bursting into tears and stuffing her face in Toni's shoulder. Jaws dropped from everyone in the diner, some people whispering. Holly looked at me and I slapped my hand to my face. Now we are definitely getting involved. ------ "Pol, i'm sure he is fine. He's like a cockroach, annoying and indestructible." Piper told Polly, who was on our couch crying her eyes out. Polly has been best friends with my mom for a very very long time. She is always at our house and has come to know Alex and I pretty well, even though Alex isn't her hugest fan.
"But he's LARRY of all people, he's so..gullible, what if he was lured somewhere and killed with that other guy...what will I do with Finn?!" she exclaimed, crying into Piper's chest. Alex was standing on the other side of the room and stifled a little laugh, which I shared. We both didn't like Larry at all. Piper used to be engaged to Larry, but when she got to prison she fell back in love with Alex and left Larry for her. Larry got together with Polly and he ended up becoming her boyfriend and stepdad for her son. He is always around us, even if Piper and him broke up, because of Polly. Alex and I always make fun of him when he isn't around.
"He is fine Pol, don't worry. Here, let's go get you some tea because you need to calm down..." Piper told her, leading her to the kitchen. Alex rolled her eyes and went the opposite direction, towards the stairs. I flopped on the couch and checked my phone and saw 3 messages from Holly.
RAMONA! RIVER! NOW! I'M OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE!
URGENT!
GET TWO OF THE HORSES, WE ARE GOING ON AN ADVENTURE AND GETTING INVOLVED
Of course.

I laughed and kicked Ramona again. Suddenly, the aura changed in Pop's and I immediately knew who it was. Shit I thought at the same time Ramona asked if I felt it. I did. "My moms!" I hissed, and she quickly got up and rushed toward the bathroom. I got up from my seat, leaving a tip for Pop as a sorry for not eating the milkshakes. I turned and looked at my mother, who was...crying?
"What's wrong Miss. Blossom?" Pop asked, walking towards her.
"Archie Andrews is missing...! Veronica said he went out with a friend the other day and he hasn't come back since...she has a feeling he is dead...Archie..." She said, falling more towards my mom and burying her face in her shoulder. I sighed and looked over at Ramona where her face was peeking out of the door. She sighed and face-palmed, making me laugh a bit.
I turned to my moms, "I'm sure he's fine mother. We'll find him." My mother lifted her head from my mom's shoulder and nodded her head. She hummed crying a bit more before wiping her eyes with her fingers.
"We've come to get you...and tell you the news. Jughead said you'd be here with friends. We're going to take you home, text your friends goodbye." My mother looked around the diner, seeing everyone talking about what she just said. "We don't need much backlash for this." She then straightened up and turned on her heel. My mom following after her. I turned a bit and waved slightly to Ramona, who waved back. I mouthed, talk later to her, to which she nodded her head. I turned and walked out of the diner, following my parents.
----- "I don't see why this is such a big deal." I say pacing in the living room. "It's not the worst thing to happen in Riverdale."
"I know it isn't, but we're worried for you. Yes you have the protection of the Serpents but there's not much of us left. Not like when we were growing up, and I was still worried for your mom." My mother said, flicking her fiery red hair over her shoulder. "We just want you to be safe."
"But that's bullshit. Just because Archie went missing doesn't mean I'm going to go missing too." I said, crossing my arms, "What if they wanted to murder Archie." My mother looked at me incredulously.
"You sound like you murdered him." She said looking at me.
"I didn't. I've barely even talked to Mr. Andrews. My best guess is that he's having an affair and didn't know how to tell Mrs. Lodge and so he thought his best option was run away. It seems more logical than him getting murdered." I say rolling my eyes, "I'm not a murderer mother."
"You could be with all those knives you've been throwing." She retaliates.
"That's self defense there's a difference." I say standing up, typing out a message to Ramona to meet me in town. I hear the phone ring once then abruptly stop, hearing my mom talk through the wall. After I hear the phone return to the holder she quickly opens the door.
"That was Sheriff Keller. He said another man has gone missing, Larry something, I can't remember. He went missing around the same time Archie did."
I laugh, shooting three quick messages to Ramona then putting my phone in my back pocket and picking my knife up from the table. "He's having an affair." I sang before I walked out. Breaking into a sprint towards Ramona's house.
This is gonna be fun.

I ran up to my room and grabbed my backpack. I threw my school stuff out of it and quickly stuffed clothes, a first aid kit, my wallet, my hydro flask, my keys, a hairbrush, and my handgun Alex gave me into it. I put my shoes on and went downstairs quickly.
"What are you doing, Ro?" Alex asked, sitting on the couch, casually watching TV while Polly was still sobbing in the kitchen.
"Oh, um, i'm doing some homework in the tack room tonight." I told her. I sometimes did my homework in the tack room to be closer to my horses. Weird, I know, but I guess it came in handy here.
"Ok." Alex replied, going back to her TV. I whispered a small "I love you" to my moms and slipped out of the door.
I threw my backpack on the ground and quickly opened the tack room door. I grabbed my grooming kit and groomed Balboa and Pepperoni. I then threw my grooming kit back on the shelf and grabbed both of their dressage saddles. I tacked them up and mounted Balboa while ponying Pepperoni until Holly could mount. Holly opened the gate quietly for me, and the horses and I snuck out. As soon as we were on the riverbank, I put the reins over Pepperoni's neck while still holding them, and Holly hopped on (being as tall as she is, it wasn't a problem for her).
"Where are we going?" I asked as we motioned the horses to a trot. She smiled and didn't respond. This is gonna be fun. ------- About an hour later, we arrived in Greendale, a nearby city. We were still in the same woods, but the trees were bigger and closer together, which is how we knew it wasn't Riverdale anymore.
"Is this where we are starting to look for them?" I asked.
"Yep. Veronica doesn't know where Archie was going, he could be anywhere. Did Polly say anything?" Holly asked, looking around the woods.
"Nope, just crying about how much she misses him." I said, rolling my eyes. Holly laughed at that. I looked up at the sky and saw lots of clouds. It's like it was a chain reaction, because it immediately started to rain.
"Fuck." I complained, and Holly groaned. We clucked the horses into a trot and we found a tree with a big overhang. We both dismounted, and I ruffled through my backpack. I luckily brought their halters, so I slipped off their bridles put their halters on to tie them up with. I then slumped down next to Holly and drifted off to sleep.
----- (The next morning, Alex's POV) The sun blared through the window as I blinked my eyes open. Looks like the rain is over. I had my arms around Piper, who was fast asleep. Her face was snuggled into my chest, and I giggled and kissed her head. I gently put her head on her pillow and climbed out of bed, letting the first few moments of the day hit. I was looking out of my window, which is a view of the horses and the river. I couldn't see Balboa or Pepperoni this morning, but I could see Honey.
"Hmm. Weird. They're probably inside their stalls." I mumbled, and climbed back into bed with Piper. As soon as I hit the bed, the front door was bombarded with angry knocking. Piper groaned and climbed out of bed. Hand in hand, we walked downstairs as the knocking continued. I put my hand on the doorknob, and was greeted with an angry ball of fire on my front steps.
"Hello jailbirds. My daughter wasn't in her bed this morning and hasn't been answering her phone, so TT and I assumed she would be with your rabid dog of a daughter." Cheryl spat, waking Piper and I up.
"First of all, our daughter is good kid. Second, Ramona was doing her homework out by the horses last night. I can assure you she is not with Holly because Ramona is in her room sleeping, like you should be doing." I responded, rolling my eyes. Cheryl fumed and Toni rubbed her arm to calm her down.
"Call her down. I want proof. I am 100% positive my sweet girl is being defiled by your dreadful child." Cheryl squabbled. I rolled my eyes and turned to Piper, who was half asleep.
"Ro! Come down...!" Piper called, turning towards the stairs. We all waited a minute before Piper called again, and then again. Cheryl gave us an 'I told you so' look and folded her arms. Piper sighed and walked upstairs to go get her, stomping as she walked up the stairs.
"Uh...Al?!" Piper shouted, and I immediately ran up the steps, Cheryl and Toni following. When we got to Ramona's room, Cheryl cackled a laugh when we found that her bed was untouched and not slept in.
"Where is she? Why is she gone?" I panicked, Piper coming over to me and hugging my side. Then I remembered the missing horses, and my face became even whiter than it already was.
"Balboa and Pepperoni...I couldn't see them this morning...maybe Ramona and Holly took them and ran off..." I said out loud, making everyone in the room gasp.
"MY DAUGHTER?! ON ONE OF YOUR CRAZY, BATSHIT ANIMALS? Nope. Nope Nope. We are ALL looking for them. NOW!" Cheryl screamed grabbing Toni by the wrist and dragging her to their car. We had no choice but to follow.

I cracked my eyes open, my back was sore and I'm pretty sure that I slept sitting up. I whipped my head back as a branch cracked right next to me. In effect my head slammed against the tree effectively waking me up. My eyes snapped open and I shot up immediately going into a fighting stance. My knife found my hand as my eyes scanned the woods. My vision landed on the horses and a sleeping Ramona a tree away from me. One of the horses were pawing the ground. That's probably the sound I heard. I sighed, rolling my neck trying to make it hurt less. I felt a buzzing in my back pocket and it suddenly occurred to me that we'd slept overnight here. God fucking dammit. I pulled out my phone and checked my notifications, a few Youtube ones, a couple twitter, and a ton of missed calls. Whoops. I hesitated over the callback button. They're probably already out looking for us anyway. I ultimately put my phone back in my pocket, my knife still weighing in my right hand. I sighed, tilting my head back. I looked forward again, and in one swift motion brought my hand back and launched my knife at the tree, wedging it into the bark. I blew upward out of my mouth to try and blow the piece of hair that fell forward into my face away. In the end I gave up and brushed it back. I turned to Ramona, who looked half awake. Balboa, her horse, was licking her face trying to get her to wake up. Her hair was a bit messy and her face was scrunched up while her horse repetitively licked her face, how could I not take a picture? Her eyes opened a second later. She stared at me and I knew I was caught. I still had my phone in my hand. I started laughing and she rolled her eyes.
"Everything hurts." She complained, stretching her arms out to her sides.
"Well you did sleep on the floor." I said, slowly calming down from my laughter.
"You slept on the floor too!" She retaliated and I burst out laughing again at the look on her face.
"You have no proof I did such a thing! Maybe I slept up in the tree on a nice flat branch. You'll never know." I said laughing and turning around. I heard Ramona let out a sound that sounded like a grunt. I heard footsteps behind me then they abruptly came to a stop.
"Dude we are in so much trouble." She breathed out from behind me. I looked over my shoulder at her. She was staring at her phone which no doubt looked like mine.
"Yeah, I saw." I said turning my head back to the tree where my knife was.
"And?? You didn't call them back? They haven't said anything?" She asked incredulously.
"No? We're in trouble anyway, might as well stay out of trouble for a few hours." I said pulling the knife out of the tree vaguely taking notice of the odd discolored patch of wood right next to it. Barely paying attention to it I turn around to look at Ramona. "I'm not too worried."
"Well I am. My parents did go to prison." She said shrugging.
"And mine were psychologically tortured in a nursing home. At least one of them was. So we're technically in the same boat." I said, the corner of my mouth upturned into a smirk.
Ramona was bridling up the horses, "I'd rather not have a week sentence thanks. Besides you were the one that dragged me into this."
I laughed, walking towards her then flipping around and throwing my knife at the same tree. "You wanted to come. I didn't 'drag you' you're here against your own free will."
She rolled her eyes, I could feel it. "And they say I'm corrupting you." I laugh grabbing the handle of my knife and pulling it out of the tree. This time my eyes transfix to the discolored patch of wood. I spin my knife and sheath it in one motion. My hand grazes over the patch of wood. I quickly drew my hand back once I realized what it was.
"Blood..." I murmured.
"What was that?" Ramona asked, already saddled up and ready to go back.
"Oh, uh, nothing." I said. Tell her, you have to! My brain screamed at me, but I just turned around and mounted Pepperoni. I'll tell her later.

As we were riding, I kept feeling my phone buzzing. I figured it was Alex or Piper, so I ignored it. But it just kept on buzzing. Holly eyed me. She knew I was constantly on my phone, to the point where every time she checked Instagram I was always active.
"You gonna answer that?" she asked.
"I don't know..." I responded, looking down at my phone in my pocket. I waited a few seconds, and then I gave up and grabbed my phone. It said LITCHFIELD in all big letters. I got excited.
"An inmate from Litchfield Feder-
"Accept accept!" I yelled into the phone, and it beeped over.
"Kid? 'Ey, it's aunt Nicky." Nicky said into the phone.
"Hey aunt Nicky, how are you?" I responded, hearing a chuckle from the other side of the phone.
"You tell me, kid. Your mom has taken advantage of my phone time today in a panic, asking if I have contacted you because you are missing or something. She even called Grandma Red, who you know had a panic attack. Kid, what the fuck have you gotten yourself into?" she blabbered with a concerned tone in her voice. I sighed. I felt a little bad.
"Larry and a guy from Riverdale have gone missing, so my friend and I are trying to find them. We can't tell our moms because they all hate each other because of prison. So we just took off." I explained, and Nicky cackled.
"HAH! 'Ey, Morello, our niece is a detective." she exclaimed.
"Oh wow, very nice, tell her auntie says hi!" I could hear the voice of Morello very faintly over Nicky's bellowing laugh.
"Okay kid. I'll tell Alex you're ok. She's worried sick. Call her back for fuck's sake!" Nicky yelled in her bubbly tone of voice, and then the line cut off.
"Nicky?" Holly asked, and I nodded. It was a big coincidence that she called, especially because of my dream last night....
(the dream/flashback): It was really sunny outside. One of my last hot California days for a long time. I was not excited about leaving California for some small town in Vermont. But I had to make do, especially because I would no longer be a foster kid.
"Ramona, your foster mothers are here!" the receptionist called, and I grabbed my things and stood up. Two tall, rich looking women stepped into the room, smiles on their faces. The taller one had medium length black hair with warm, dark brown eyes and very pale skin. The other one, who was just a tad shorter, had shoulder length blonde hair, blue eyes, and tanner pale skin. From what I was told, they used to be in prison, but for nothing dangerous. They were both from New York and flew all the way to California just for me. They had bought a house right on a Riverbank back east and planned to raise me there.
"Hi there Ramona, i'm Alex, and this is my wife Piper. We are going to be your mommies." the black haired one said, kneeling down to talk to me. She had a warm smile on her face, and I felt safe around them. I nodded and hugged her, smiling. I finally had parents who wanted me. When I pulled away, she noticed the stuffed horse I was hugging.
"Do you like horses?" she asked, and I nodded. She looked at Piper, who had a beaming smile.
"We can take care of that." she told me, standing up and taking my right hand. Piper took my left, and we walked out of the building and into my new life.
(back to present day)
"Ro, are you ok?" Holly asked, staring at me.
"Yeah, I just feel sorta bad. My moms have never been unfair or mean to me, I feel bad not answering them and just leaving." I confessed, and she nodded.
"Yeah, me too. But just imagine what life will be like if we find these bodies." Holly exclaimed, and I perked up. We would be able to be public about our friendship. We would be so famous we wouldn't need to go to school or even work! It would be amazing.
"I guess you're right." I told her, winking.
------ We passed through Greendale and ended up in a rural town with nothing but tall trees in it. It was dark and we were both tired. We had been riding all day and found nothing. That is, until, we heard footsteps coming behind us...

I immediately felt wide awake. Footsteps, I could recognize those anywhere. The gait was too fast to be a horse. The steps concluded it had to be a man. The footfalls were too heavy to be a woman's. What? Cheryl and Toni just want me to be safe. I didn't learn all of this from them okay. The Serpents helped contribute too. Anyway, whoever it was, was definitely getting closer. I clucked Pepperoni into a trot, urging her to go a bit faster. Ramona following my lead, she heard the same thing I did. The footsteps kept following us, albeit a bit slower than before, but that's just because we sped up. My hand was itching for the knife at my belt, but I had to keep control of the reins first. I looked to Ramona, who I knew was a bit tired. She yawned, throwing her shoulders back, which in turn made her shirt ride up a bit. I saw the butt of a gun poking out of her shorts. I smiled a bit, of course she wouldn't go out without a weapon. My knife was visible, as always, because it was on the outside of my pants on my belt, and I always wore a crop-top, so that was a serious disadvantage. Although, a knife doesn't look very promising for me...too bad this guy doesn't know how much damage it can cause. So that was an advantage. I rolled my neck, the footsteps not slowing down or speeding up. I wanted to chance a look behind me, but in more cases than one, this guy has a gun.
"Where are we going by the way." I said, a bit softer than my normal talking voice, not wanting to alert the guy behind me.
Ramona looked at me, "Just going around the perimeter of the town, if we don't find anything we're going back to town I guess." She said in an equally soft voice.
I took a deep breath, "Okay." We kept going, daring him to make the first move. Here we have two options, stop and alert the guy, or keep going and wait for him to stop or break into a run, which would ultimately make us start running. The footsteps stayed the same and I was getting impatient. My hand itched for the smooth handle of my knife, and I wanted to turn around so badly. I wanted to look this fucker in the eye and make him sorry for following us and not giving me anytime to sleep. I could tell Ramona was getting tired too, we needed to do something. I turned my head slightly, making it look like I was looking at Ramona, but I was really trying not to tip this guy off. I could see barely enough behind the horses in my peripheral vision to see some shape of a guys arm in the moonlight. He was a bit back, since we were going a bit faster than him, but I could tell that his speed changed from when he was first following us. I huffed, and I saw Ramona looking at me out of the corner of her eye. She was giving me the look that she knows I'm going to do something stupid, and trying, and failing to tell me not to. Before I could retaliate with a glare of my own, I heard the click of a gun.
TW////Blood, Slight Gore, Violence, Swearing, Death
A shot rang out into the night, and a quick glance to Ramona and her horse told me that it didn't hit them. Fully aware that I wasn't hurt and my horse wasn't toppling over told me that he fired it into the sky, or he just has terrible aim. In one quick motion I dismounted Pepperoni, throwing the reins to Ramona to decide what to do with them. She had turned Balboa around, her gun in her right hand, her left catching Pepperoni's reins. My eyes met hers and I smirked. So much for not doing something stupid. I ran a few steps forward, my hand finally finding my knife. I let out a short laugh, watching as the man aimed his gun at me. "Sorry sweetheart, but today is not my day to die." I sang before throwing my knife at his hand that was holding the gun. It lodged in his wrist, forcing him to drop the gun. Blood dripped down his arm, soaking his shirt and making it a darker black than it already was. He ripped my knife out of his hand, the blood starting to flow in streams down his wrist to his hand. He was screaming and weakly attempted to throw the knife back at me. My adrenaline was running high, so as soon as he dropped it I ran over to my knife and picked it up. "What a shame, it has your blood on it now." I sighed, knowing I'd have to clean it before putting it away. Don't want to damage the leather now do we.
I watched as the man fumbled for his gun. "You stupid mother fucking kids. I'm not going to die to you goddamn teenagers. What would it do to my honor huh?!" He yelled. I recognized this, he was in hysterics.
"You want to find out?" Ramona said not hesitating to shoot his other hand trying to pick up the fallen gun, actually ripping it right off with the force of the gun and how his arm was angled, right through the side and out the other. I watched as his hand dangled by his wrist by a bit of muscle, the bone clearly showing. He stared at his hand in shock and horror.
"What have you two done to me?? What have you done???" He was in full hysterics now, screaming and cursing to his hearts content. I didn't know how close the nearest town was so that meant I had to act fast. I quickly ran around behind him, yanking him back by the shirt, wrapping my arm around his throat and pushing my knife against his throat, just below his Adam's apple. I watched as his arm flailed around, effectively splashing blood everywhere. Ramona was far enough from him to not have any blood get on her. That would be unfortunate.
My knife pressed into the column on his throat, "Okay, you want to shut up right? We don't want to get in trouble you see..." I murmured in the guys ear. He weakly nodded. "So...when we let you go, and you run into town to heal up, you won't tell anyone about this will you?" I murmur in his ear. He nods his head once again. "Alright, now that that's settled, why don't you tell me what you know about Archie Andrews and Larry Bloom?"
"I...I don't know much about them I swear!" He yelled, his voice a bit scratchy.
"Oh really? You see I think you do." I said, putting a bit more pressure on his throat.
"I don't I promise! I do work for someone though. They told me to go after anyone who looks like they're searching the woods. That was all I was told! He didn't tell us why!" He tensed in my grip, knowing he screwed up. He was probably hoping I didn't notice.
"Us? There's more of you?" I asked, tightening my grip. That could be a problem.
"Uh? No! No there isn't! Just me!" He yelled getting more frantic by the moment.
"Who's this guy that hired you?" I asked, not letting up. He was thrashing now, trying to throw me off.
"It's none of your business!" He yelled, and I released my grip. He immediately started sprinting the way we came. Shame, he should've done some twists and turns. Another gunshot rang out, and the man dropped to the floor. I smiled, rolling my neck.
"Well that was fun." Ramona said, throwing the reins back to me as I walked over. I grabbed them, pulling a cloth out of my back pocket. Swiping the blood off of my knife, spinning it and putting it away. I got on Pepperoni, feeling my adrenaline die down. "We've gotta get going. Away from the body, don't wanna look like suspects."
"It was self defense." I said, picking up a trot.

When we started to trot away, I looked back. Something shiny had fallen out of his pocket. I usually wouldn't give a shit, but this caught my eye for a reason.
"Hol, look." I said, pointing to the shiny thing. She looked intrigued too. We turned the horses around and trotted towards him, I dismounted and tip-toed my way through the blood, so that it didn't get on me. I quickly snatched the silver thing stuffed it in my pocket. It was hard and had lots of curves. I swiftly ran back to Balboa and had help from Holly mounting (since I am short and Balboa is 17.2 hands).
"Well, what is it?" she asked as we qued the horses to walk away. I pulled it out of my pocket and studied it. It was a large pin. It had a K and an H on it. The font of the K looked very familiar. I looked closer at it, and noticed it had lots of dirt on it. This guy must've traveled far to get to us. I flipped it over and saw writing on the back. It read Kubra and Hiram Industries in little slanted writing. I almost threw up when I read that.
"Holly...that guy...he was hired by my mom's old drug cartel leader..." I stuttered, feeling sick. Alex has told me many stories of Kubra and how dangerous he was. One being a near death experience for my mother. She was in the greenhouse in the prison, and Kubra sent someone to join as a guard and kill my mom. They were almost successful, but a woman named Lolly came and beat the living shit out of him and killed him. Another woman named Frieda, who is good friends with my Grandma Red, helped my mom and Lolly hide his body. My poor mom was so shell shocked about it that she ended up smoking crack out of a lightbulb in the garden with my aunt Nicky and my other mom, Piper. She still has nightmares about it sometimes. Kubra was NOT happy about her being alive and has been on the hunt to get my mother back for that. I guess going after Riverdale was his plan.
"Kubra? The drug guy? and Hiram?!" Holly exclaimed, shocked.
"Yep..." I responded, shoving the pin in my pocket.
"They probably killed Archie and Larry. But why? What did they have to do with drugs?" she asked, throwing her hands up for emotion.
"I don't know, maybe Kubra thought going after Larry would be a way to get to my mom...and Hiram has always wanted to go after Archie, so teaming up with Kubra would link those two together..." I thought out loud. As we discussed this newfound information, the sun started to rise. It's been around two days now.
"Well at least now we know who the killers are." Holly said, and I shook my head. Hiram and Kubra would never kill someone themselves. It was after I shook my head that I realized we probably weren't even in Vermont anymore. We were in New York, because Lake Champlain was right ahead of us.
"Wait Holly, we are in New York now. Kubra ran his drug cartel here, and Hiram does his work here. The bodies are here. We are getting closer." I said excitedly.
"Holy shit you're right! Only thing is, we have to cross this fucking river with the horses." she responded. Fuck.

We pulled up short. The river was roaring ahead of us. "What are we gonna do? You're the horse expert." I said, throwing my hands in the air.
"It's a fucking river. We aren't getting the horses across." She said, sighing.
I leaned my head forward, "Great."
"There's no way we're walking straight through that." Ramona said, starting to dismount.
"Isn't there a ferry that brings people across?" I said, looking at her.
She hummed, "I doubt they'd take horses."
"Well we could try." I said, shrugging.
"Do you have money?" She shot back, huffing as she searched her bag.
I laughed, "We live in a world where I have money?" She huffed again and pulled out her found wallet. "I'd lose it in a day anyway."
She looked up, "Are we actually going on the ferry?"
I shrugged, "If we can," my stomach rumbled, "And I'm hungry."
"You'd better pay me back when we get home." She muttered, leading Balboa over to where the ferry dock was. Which was conveniently almost right next to us. Yes, food. I thought smiling.
------- (Toni's POV)
"How far could they have gone?" Cheryl huffed, stepping over yet another branch.
"They couldn't've gotten far." I said, putting my hand on her back. She sighed, her eyes scanning the trees for any clues. "Did you tell anyone? Is Sheriff Keller aware?"
"I didn't tell anyone no," She sighed, "Should I? They're all looking for Archie and Larry and I guess I just assumed that Kevin didn't need more pressure like this." It was weird, but special, how soft and thoughtful Cheryl could be. Of course, I was the only one who saw her like this. Her tone was soft and concerned, with everyone else she would've snapped every word at them. I've seen that before, obviously. I smiled at her and pecked her cheek.
"So thoughtful," She rolled her eyes, "We'll find them."
"Guys!" One of Ramona's moms shouted, the blonde one, Piper was it?
"What?" Cheryl yelled back, worry evident in her voice.
"Come look at this!" The other one, with black hair, Alex I think, shouted back. Cheryl and I ran over, looking at the tree that Alex was pointing to. The tree had two knife punctures, with blood. My eyes widened with shock, no that's not theirs, my mind supplied for me, the knife marks were a little too far away from the blood, and the knife punctures were clean.
"It isn't theirs." I said, and all three of them looked at me for an explanation for how I possibly came to that conclusion. "The knife marks are clean, and a bit too far away. Someone's blood was on the tree before these knife marks were made. It still doesn't tell us where they went. It just tells us they've been here."
"Do you think that Holly did that? I heard she throws knives." Piper asked.
"It could've been, let's just hope they haven't been attacked." I replied.

Night fell in, and we slept under the trees again. Holly was passed out and so were the horses, but I was determined to find a way. I always have known my way around streets and how to sneak into places. As a child in a raggedy foster home in southern California, it was my way of life. I closed my eyes, and tried to remember all Alex has said about Kubra. Then it hit me. (Flashback) We were in the car, driving to New York for Christmas week to visit my grandma, grandpa, Uncle Cal, Aunt Neri, and cousin Goodall. I had my earbuds in and I was staring out of the window, at the lake. I saw Piper rub Alex's arm, and Alex looked uneasy. I turned my music down and listened to their conversation, because i'm sure it was something about Alex's business. "I always hated the Alburg bridge...i'd have to drive back and forth here to distribute. If I was late I would be beat up. This bridge always gives me a bad feeling." she explained, and Piper squeezed her hand and smiled at her. I felt sick when I heard that. I didn't want either of them to be hurt. As we passed over the bridge, I noticed there was an older wooden bridge to the left. I imagined myself galloping my horse across it, the water underneath us and the crisp air hitting our faces. I smiled. I sat up fast, and hit Holly. She stirred and blinked a few times. "Get up. I think I know how to get to New York." I said excitedly, and she smiled. "Ok, lets eat first though, i'm fucking hungry." she said, slapping my arm. I rolled my eyes and fished through my backpack, and we ate granola bars as the sun rose. The horses grazed on the fresh, wet grass, their stomachs probably full from a night of eating. When we were done, we mounted, and broke right into a trot. We weren't far. "Where are we going?" Holly asked, and I ignored her. As soon as the trees ended, we were on a road. I knew this road. We kept following it until the end, where we saw the bridges. "Here we go. Follow me." I told her, slowing to a walk. I saw the start of the wooden bridge, and luckily, the gate to it was open, for there was a little building in the middle and people had to get to and from it. "Ok, I know you aren't too experienced with horses and this is going to be completely terrifying, but hold the reins as tight as possible and make sure you steer." I warned her, and her face turned pale. I winked, and make a loud kiss sound to Balboa and dug my heels into her sides. She broke out into a gallop, and we were off. I held my reins super short and grabbed mane, and sat in my two point position. Balboa, being a thoroughbred, was enjoying this. She was snorting and her strides were huge. I couldn't help but smile. There was something about galloping that cleared your mind and made you live in the moment. Meanwhile, Holly was whimpering and holding on for dear life. Pepperoni followed Balboa, but flicked his ears back every now and then to make sure Holly was ok. As we neared the building, I realized the bridge split. "WOAH!" I called out, and the horse slowed down to a slow gallop, canter, trot, and walk. Holly's face was flushed red, and she was panting. Pepperoni looked around, proud of himself. "The bridge splits...what do we do?" I asked, kind of freaking out. Holly shrugged. I thought of a few different solutions, but ended up picking the most rational but dangerous. "We have to jump and swim." I told her, and the color drainer from her face. "WHAT?! Isn't there another way? What if we sink? What if we die? Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god..." she panicked, looking around. "We have to, the faster we do it the faster it's done. Follow me." I explained, trying to be confident. She nodded and followed, the color still gone from her face. There were two split ups, because there was a little concrete island in the middle with nets and fishing supplies on it. II circled Balboa and brought her into a steady canter. My heart seemed to stop beating as we sped up and she steadied herself onto her back legs and lifted off. This had to be something out of a dream. I was jumping my horse off of an old, wooden bridge over a river. My heart resumed it's natural function when I heard all four of her hooves clop on the cement. "GOOD GIRL!!!" I cooed, petting her and scratching her neck. I could hear Holly circling Pepperoni, ready for her to take off. I gave her a thumbs up, and she cantered Pepperoni and closed her eyes as he jumped over the river. He landed perfectly and she opened her eyes, looking around. She released her breath and let out a shaky laugh. "You did it!" I smiled, and she laughed and pet Pepperoni on the neck. It was only then I noticed people were watching us on the bridge to our right, which only cars were allowed on. I didn't care. We still had one jump left to do, and those people could watch for all I care. "One more, you can do it." I told Holly, and she nodded confidently. I circled Balboa, and she knew what to do. We cantered to the edge of the concrete, and she jumped. My heart stopped again, and I closed my eyes again. I could feel the air hitting us as we flew, and it was something special, I opened my eyes as soon as I heard her hooves clop. I pet her again and smiled, and she was huffing and puffing. "Come on, Holly!" I yelled, and I saw her gulp. She circled Pepperoni, and his ears turned towards us, and he looked determined. He cantered fastly to the edge and took off. He seemed to jump faster this time, because he hit the ground hard and did a circle. Holly panted and held the reins tight, her eyes wide. I laughed and gave her a high five. "You did it again! That was the last jump. We just have to gallop across the rest of the bridge and then we're in New York." I explained, and she nodded. When we were back on the bridge, I urged Balboa back into a gallop, and we went on our way. -this is an actual place- www.google.com/maps/@44.9728204,-73.219847,3a,90y,182.82h,67.92t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sHTX_vnatw35_veW3tN8sAA!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo2.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DHTX_vnatw35_veW3tN8sAA%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D359.9642%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i16384!8i8192

Shit shit shit shit. I thought as the horse sailed through the air a final time. It was weird, I wasn't usually this scared of anything, I did just threaten a guy with a knife. Although, something about horses running really fast and jumping through the air scared the shit out of me. It's probably because I don't feel like I'm in control of my life, and that I'm entrusting it with another living breathing thing. Ramona knew this obviously. She figured it out the first time she had me try jumping, when we were younger. I had been mortified, but tried to play it off that I was fine. She had figured it out pretty quickly probably due to all of the color draining from my face. The horse's hooves hit the ground, knocking me out of my thoughts. I swallowed, looking at Ramona. My eyes probably looked like saucers. She laughed and gave me a high five.
"You did it again! That was the last jump. We just have to gallop across the rest of the bridge and then we're in New York." She said. I nodded, trying to regulate my breathing after unconsciously holding it the whole time the horse was in the air. She turned Balboa and we broke into a gallop. I, obviously, was still terrified. I was always scared that the horse would trip and it would land on top of me, or I accidentally steer it off of the bridge from one tiny movement of my hands and he drowns. See? It is terrifying, stop judging me. Eventually, in my thought spiral and the constant mantra of, shit goddamnit, fuck, holy shit, the fuck, oh my god, we made it to the other side. Ramona immediately slowed Balboa, Pepperoni following Balboa and slowing, although not as gracefully as I would've hoped. I flung forward, almost doing a barrel roll off of Pepperoni but catching myself at the last minute. I could hear Ramona laughing at me to the side.
"It's not funny." I said, regaining my balance.
"It's a little funny." She said, and I couldn't help but smile.
"So, we've made it." I said, noticing my phone buzzing in my back pocket. I grabbed it, clicking it on. Notification after notification poured in, "Guess we got service."
"I'm surprised it's still alive." Ramona said, pulling out her own phone, wincing at the screen. I rolled my neck, looking back down at my phone. Most of the notifications belonged to twitter, a crap ton of youtube ones, and a truckload of messages. Most of them involved the words, where, the, fuck, are, and you. I scrolled through my unread messages. More than half of them belonged to my parents. Two of them though, belonged to the adopted son of Sheriff Keller, Darren. I click on his message making the blue and grey bubbles fill the screen from past conversations. My eyes focus on the on grey bubble down at the bottom.
1 Day ago 4:42 PM
Darren: Hey! Noticed you haven't been around town, wondering if you want to hang out or something?
I laughed and looked at the next text bubble,
1 Day ago 4:45 PM
Darren: If not that's cool too you know! Just wondered if you wanted to get to know each other outside of school or something.
I closed my eyes and tilted my head back, a small smiled etched on my face. The sheriff's boy? Really? You throw knives for a living, one is bound to end up in someone's eye. I snorted at that thought, are you sure that's what it looks like? Isn't his dad gay? Oh, right, adopted. I sighed, I shouldn't have this to worry about too. We have more pressing matters. My fingers flew across the screen typing a reply before the service decided to leave on my poor phone.
Today 12:37 PM Me: Sorry I didn't see this earlier! Kind of exploring. Lost service and just got it back.
Today 12:38 PM Me: Probably going to happen again. I'll text you when I get back!
And when I get my thoughts together, My brain added. I watched as the two messages said delivered then shut off my phone. The buzzing had stopped by now - thank God - and I was able to focus a bit more than when I had first read the messages. It's just a fucking hangout how desperate can you be. My brain shot at me. That's right, I thought, we've been friends since we were little, although we have only talked in school since the whole Serpent riot. And that was when you were what? Five? I rolled my neck, looking over at Ramona. Her fingers were flying over her screen, a small frown etched on her face.
"Who are you messaging?" I asked, she glanced up at me once and then back down to her phone.
"Uhhh..."

(Alex's POV)
"An inmate from Litchfield federal penit-"
"Accept, accept." I said into my phone, and I heard the phone transfer over.
"Alex. Did you find my vnuchka?" Red asked, worry in her voice. Red adores Ramona. When we visit, she does her hair and gossips with her. It's adorable. I feel horrible I lost her first grandchild.
"No Red, i'm sorry...Pipes and I are trying, she cut off all traces of herself." I explained, and I heard Red sob over the line. My heart broke a little.
"We are all worried sick. We miss our little one." she said sadly, sniffling.
"I know Red, we are doing everything we can. Say hi to Nicky and Lorna for us. Love you." I told her, and she said I love you back and hung up. Piper held my hand and laid her head on my shoulder, dozing off. Cheryl had her hand enclosed in Toni's, who was asleep in the front seat. We were still stuck in Cheryl's car. We have been here for days, doing nothing but searching. We went East, and now we are in New Hampshire. We have no idea where else they could be.
"You know Alex, for what it's worth, you guys aren't horrible mothers. Mine is a frigid witch." Cheryl said softly, a different emotion crossing her face. I was shocked. I thought she thought Piper and I were the scum of the earth.
"Don't worry about it. My dad lives up to that title too." I mumbled, stifling a little laugh.
"So much for horrible parents. Mine sent me to a religious conversion group home and threw away my hush money when I was almost raped." Cheryl told me, laughing after. I could see the pain in her eyes.
"Ah, can't compete with that. My dad wanted to fuck me when I first met him." I explained, and Cheryl's eyes widened with disgust.
"What. The. Fuck?" Cheryl exclaimed, and we both broke out into laughter.
"Yeah...he was in Death Madien and he got me a backstage pass so I could meet him. Told me I had nice tits and that he wouldn't mind exploring me more. I left right then and there." I told Cheryl, who scrunched her lips in disgust.
"Repulsive." she spat.
"Absolutely." I responded. Maybe these two stuck up Riverdale moms aren't that bad. -------
(Ramona's POV) I knew she liked that sheriff boy. She is bad at hiding stuff from me.
"Did you tell him we are on a manhut and you can't really hang right now?" I asked sarcastically, and she rolled her eyes.
"ANYWAYS, where are we headed?" she asked.
"Kubra Headquarters. In Queens. Approximately 290 miles from here." I told her, and she sighed.
"Jesus fuck." She responded, and I laughed.
"Remember who's idea this was." I said, and she rolled her eyes.
As we ventured through the woods, it got more quiet and eerie. We looked around, and so did the horses. They must've sensed something. That's when we saw about 5 eyes coming closer, and then a pack of wolves emerged.
"WOLVES!" I screamed.

TW//// Gore, violent death, blood
"WOLVES!" Ramona screamed. I pulled Pepperoni up short, doing an emergency dismount. "What are you doing?!" Ramona hissed at me from on her horse. I glanced behind me, throwing her the reins. "Take the clear opening, I'll keep them away from you." I said, and she looked at me uncertainly. "Are you sure you want to do this." "I'm sure now go before our only mode of transportation is gone." I hissed, and she narrowed her eyes, whipping out her gun. She fired a few shots, downing at least three of them. The rest, after seeing the three injured, charged. "GO!" I yelled, putting the attention on me. My knife was already in my hand as the first wolf lunged at me. I ducked under it's front claws, digging my knife into it's underbelly. Blood splashed everywhere, I could feel it getting on the side of my face and dampening my clothes. The wolf fell limp above me, only giving me enough time to take my knife out and move out from underneath before gravity finally caught up with it's momentum. I could taste the metallic taste of the few drops of blood that got in my mouth. I licked my lips and set my sights on the next one. The three Ramona shot are still on the ground, two probably dead, the last one probably clinging to life. I could hear a horse whinny and a gunshot. Shit. I thought before the last wolf that was here pounced on me. I don't know how it managed to knock me off guard. I yelled as it's claws dug into my left forearm, guessing that the other paw was on the ground next to my right arm, my hand automatically jerked up, slicing the side. Blood sprayed everywhere, and I swore an internal organ fell out but I wasn't sure. Pure adrenaline kept me going, I lunged, one of it's paws scratched at my cheek, just below my eye and to my top lip. I licked the blood off, thankful that I could still see. Another gunshot echoed in the distance, and I swore I heard a man yell. My heart was pounding as I took one final swipe at the wolf, burying my knife into it's brain. I pulled my knife out, another spray of blood finding it's way onto my arms and clothes. I was breathing heavily, taking one look at myself before deeming that my clothes weren't ripped, just really dirty, and that I wasn't bleeding enough to cause serious blood loss. I walked forward, testing if one of the wolves had gotten one of my legs - they hadn't. I walked toward the wolf that was still hanging onto life, and deciding to show mercy, stabbed it in the gut. I pulled my knife back out, examining the blood on the knife. What a beautiful shade of red. I thought before hearing another gunshot. I whipped my head in that direction and started running. My heart pounding out of my chest, I sprinted toward what sounded like horses, and people? I made it to the clearing where I could see Ramona, she was surrounded, two people on the ground, limp, and five others standing around her, Balboa, and Pepperoni. She glanced at me, and mouthed, go. I shook my head, I'm staying right where I am.
"What's your name?" A man yelled from the circle.
"I don't have to tell you that." She said, staring the man who spoke down. She held her gun in her right hand, finger over the trigger, ready to aim and fire at any moment necessary.
"The boss would like this one." Another man said, staring the horses down.
"Are there two of ya?" A third one said. I could see the panic in Ramona's eyes from where I was standing.
"No, no there aren't." She said, with full confidence. She stared the men down.
"Why do you have two horses with ya then?" The fourth man spoke.
"They both look pretty full." The final one said, narrowing his eyes.
"Well if you're running away from home your bags have to be pretty full." Ramona said, lying through her teeth like a champ, a skill we both learned early on.
"Running away eh? Well then, it won't be too much of an issue to bring you to the boss. You look pretty exhausted, we have food, fresh water, new clothes... Anything you could need really" The first one spoke again, he looked authoritative, probably the leader. Why didn't you kill him first? I thought, and focused on the scene in front of me. Ramona stared the man down, "I don't trust strangers." She spat at him, he backed up feigning innocence with his hands up.
"The boss won't be pleased." He said. All I wanted to do in that moment was walk up to the guy, spit in his face and say, the boss can kiss my ass. The woods were silent, the only sounds being the breathing of the men, Ramona, me, and the horses. I was thankful in that moment that the horses breathing was heavier than mine. Otherwise it would be a dead giveaway. I was struggling to control my breathing, and running away now was a terrible option, one of them would most certainly shoot me in the back. I stood perfectly still, Ramona, still in the center, was glancing between each man, daring them to make their next move.
"Who do you work for." She spoke up, her voice coming out level, although I could see the stress behind her eyes.
"You won't know until you meet him." The guy who had spoken third said. My mind was reeling, could these guys work for Hiram and Kubra? The most logical answer, probably yes. My hand tightened on my knife, it was like a game. A game of cat and mouse, Ramona was the mouse, and the guys were the cat. Me? I was probably the human, standing off to the side watching it unfold and only interfering when needed. My eyes scanned each guy, the leader looked the brawniest, the second guy looked just as built, the third guy was average, the fourth was a stick, I could easily take him, the fifth looked to be the same as the third. The two guys dead on the floor I wasn't worried about, they're dead. It wasn't too bad, especially since I had the surprise advantage.
I held my knife at the ready, "Are you sure there aren't two of you?" The leader asked, a smirk evident on his face even from where I was standing. I heard one step behind me and saw Ramona's eyes widen. I knew what was going to happen before I felt it. I tried to turn around and throw my knife at his stomach but I felt the cloth around my nose and mouth before I could turn around. I quickly sheathed my knife and I had one more thought before my world went dark, so much for not ruining the leather.

That's when I felt two hands holding my arms back, and the gun being taken out of my hand. I was then picked up by 3 men and they started to run out of the woods with me. I heard Holly screaming my name, and Balboa's hoof-steps getting closer and closer.
"HOLLY!!! HOLLY!!!" I screamed, wringing around, trying to free myself from the men. One of them reached into his pocket and stabbed a shiv into my leg, and I screeched in agony.
"AUUGH!!" I screamed, blood seeping from my thigh. That's when I saw a road, the one that extends from the bridge. A black car pulled off the side of the road was there, and the door was open. They threw me into it, they got in, and sped into the road. Two of the men were holding me down, and hands were on my legs, mouth, and hands.
"We got Vause's kid. Kubra is gonna be happy." the driving man said, and my eyes widened. Kubra. Shit. I knew I had to act fast. We were speeding down the road, and I was probably miles and miles away from Holly and my horses. I tried to bite the man's hand, but he pressed it harder to my face when I moved.
"Don't try anything kid. I'm not afraid to do things to you." he growled, and I gulped.
"We can't kill her, the boss will kill US." the man on my left, who was holding my arms and legs, said. The man holding my mouth started to argue.
"I didn't mean KILL her, I meant fuck her to teach her a lesson." the man holding my mouth said, and the man to my left made a face.
"Bo, that's rape. Seriously." the man on the left said, and Bo, the man on my right, shook his head.
"So? We're already kidnapping her." Bo responded.
As they argued, I looked out the window. I saw a flash of grey through the trees, despite our groundbreaking speed. I squinted my eyes and saw Balboa, galloping with all her energy behind the trees. My eyes widened and my heart shattered. My girl was following us.
Please be safe.... I thought.
-------
About two hours later, I saw the opening to New York City. Fuck. I was far. I wonder where Balboa is. The man in the front, who's name I came to learn was Beto, swerved in and out of each lane, cutting cars off. I looked out of the window again, looking for my horse. No luck. I hope she's okay.
When we got into the city, they drove down a few streets, until we hit a back alley. They shoved me out of the car, and that's when I realized we were at the headquarters of Hiram and Kubra. There were men standing in front of every door, and they all stared me down. I riled around and screamed, and I even extended my mouth and bit Bo's hand.
"SHIT!" he screamed.
"That's it." he responded, slamming me against a wall, hard. I moved around, screaming, and nobody seemed to do anything. Not even the other guy, Gabriel.
I closed my eyes and prepared for the worse as he touched my pants, but as soon as he touched my left side, he was on the floor. I looked to my right, and there was Balboa, her veins popping out and sweat dripping from her neck. The men all swarmed towards her, trying to grab her. She swiftly leaned down so I could hop on, and she flicked her ears as if to tell me Get ready. She reared and kicked her front legs out, striking three men in the face, causing a domino effect. I grabbed her reins and steered her out of the alley and into the busy sidewalk of New York. We could hear the men screaming, but we didn't care. We just ran. We were in the bike lane, and luckily, the bicyclists knew that we were not stopping. I looked back, and I saw three of Kubra's men chasing us. Fools. I spurred her on faster, and we galloped so fast I thought that we were going to fly. I looked around as we galloped, and I noticed a safe looking store that had bright letters that said "Peleton". I swerved into the sidewalk, but slid to a stop when a pretty girl opened the door to the store to exit.

Everything was swimming and I have a major headache. I couldn't remember much, if anything at all, maybe I was hallucinating. I woke up laying on my back, the dried blood clinging to my face and making my clothes stiff. I closed my eyes, resting my head on the dried leaves and twigs on the forest floor. I remember the cloth around my face, after that everything was a blur. I'm sure I was going in and out of consciousness. I remember screaming, then nothing. I definitely don't remember pulling my knife on the guy, I really don't remember him dying, and I positively do not remember pulling my phone out and hitting Darren's contact. My phone buzzed in my pocket, definitely not helping the headache I have. I cracked open my eyes, immediately being blinded by the sun. I squinted as I pulled out my phone, holding it above me. Incoming Call from: Darren. Decline or Accept. I braced myself for whatever I had to say and answered the call.
"Oh my God. Thank God." He said immediately after I picked up, "How are you? Are you okay?" I closed my eyes again, rolling over into the shade. I looked up into the trees, closing my eyes and breathing out.
"What happened?" I asked, shocked my voice sounded hoarse.
"You called me late last night." Wait what? "You sounded like you were hurt or in danger." Shit.
"Did you tell anyone? I don't remember much. Definitely don't remember calling anyone." I said, wincing against the sun, letting my eyes adjust.
"I haven't told anyone yet no. I thought you called me on accident, like sleep-walking." He said, and I let out a breath.
"Thanks." I breathed out, "It's better for no one else to know."
"Why not? It's not like you murdered someone." He said, laughing a bit at the end of it. I raised my head up and looked around, my eyes landing on a guy a few feet away, motionless on the floor with my knife buried in his chest.
"Goddammit." I muttered, letting my head fall back to the floor. Forgot to get your knife, what an idiot. There was silence on the other line.
"At least you aren't covered in blood?"
"Just stop talking."
------ "You never did tell me where you are." Darren said. It was about two hours later and I was on my way towards the lake. My headache had finally gone away and I had retrieved my knife. Darren was still on the phone, claiming that he didn't want me to hang up so that he knew I was fine. Earlier he made me explain exactly what happened. I told him the whole story, for reasons you don't need to know.
"I don't exactly know where I am. I'm surprised my phone hasn't died yet." I picked up my phone, checking the battery. 33% is what it said at the top of my screen. "It's dying."
"Well I can't help you there. You know, you should go into town or something."
I huffed out a laugh, "Covered in blood remember."
"Oh, right." He said, and I could hear him laughing a bit in the background.
"It's not funny! What are you laughing at?" I said, trying to fight the smile that was making its way on my face.
"I can just, hah, imagine you covered in blood, hahha, walking down the street in a town." He said, wheezing in between his words. I started laughing too, half because I was a bit delusional, and the other half was because his laugh sounded nice. I could imagine him laughing, his short, fluffy, dirty-blonde hair bouncing, his bright blue eyes squinting, his white smile, his sharp jawline, tall form... "Hey, are you okay? You kind of disappeared for a second there." I snapped out of my thoughts, feeling my cheeks heat up.
"Oh yeah, I'm fine, I'm okay, uh, yeah, yup." I said, mentally slapping myself for sounding so stupid. "I'm going to go, I uh, gotta wash off and my phone is dying. I'd like to have a map to know where the town is. I'll call you later yeah?"
"Oh! Yeah, no problem. I won't tell anyone I promise." He said, "Please don't get into anymore trouble. I'd like to see you alive when you come back."
I smiled, "No promises." I watched as the call left the screen and I sighed. What the fuck was that? My brain happily supplied me, and to be honest, I had no fucking idea. I stood up, walking back towards the lake. It was a bit farther, I'd been walking for a while now. I was surprised that the service hadn't dropped off, which meant I've traipsing around a town this whole time. I heard the water, and I started running. I got to the lake, unfastened my belt, throwing the sheath and all off to the side, and after adding my phone and shoes to the pile, I dove into the water. It felt nice, the cold water clinging to my skin. I started scrubbing at the blood on my arms. I didn't worry about the blood on my clothes, I'd need a proper washing machine for those. I picked at the blood, watching it chip off my skin. I scrubbed at my face until it stung, making sure to get the last of the blood off. I inspected my wound on my right arm, deciding to leave the clotted blood there so I didn't bleed anymore than I had to. I got out, automatically feeling the warm air on my skin. Of course it had to be warm when I get here. I picked up my belt, and my phone and quickly putting on my shoes so that I barely got any twigs in them. I looked up the map on my phone to the nearest town, and started running.

"Woah there, what the fuck?" the girl said, surprised. She threw up her hands to her chest sarcastically and she smiled. My heart stopped. Balboa snorted and shook her head. The pedestrians around us either gave us surprised or dirty looks. The girl had long, straight thin black hair down to the end of her butt, she had tan skin and she looked Polynesian.
"I'm-i'm sorry I-" I stammered, and she puffed and shook her head.
"Nah you're good. Can I ask what the fuck you're galloping a horse for in the streets of New York City?" she asked, laughing and petting Balboa.
"Running from a drug cartel." I explained, and she laughed even harder.
"Really? Wow. Love that." she responded, rasising her eyebrows at me and laughing.
"Do you live around here?" she asked, and I shook my head. She furrowed her eyebrows at me.
"Came from Vermont. My friend and I got split up, and now i'm here. I don't know what the fuck to do. I especially don't know what the fuck to do with Balboa." I told her, and she pat Balboa's nose.
"You're in luck. You can stay with me. And my mom just somehow happens to be a dressage trainer at Times Square Equestrian Center so..." she told me, smirking at me. My jaw dropped. Did I just meet an angel?
"How...why...why would you do that for us?" I asked, and she started to walk away from the store and we followed.
"Dunno. Feel like it." she responded, smiling.
"You don't even know my name." I retorted.
"Okay then, what's your name?" she asked, looking back and smiling at me with a funny look on her face.
"Ramona. You?" I asked, and she looked at Balboa and patted her neck.
"Sydney." she responded, giving me a shaka.
"Hawaiian?" I asked, and she gave me a wink and a click of her tongue.
"Bingo. Hispanic?" she asked, and I nodded.
"My birth mom was a Chola." I told her, and she smiled.
"Wow, you're badass then huh? What're you doing over here in New York? You look like a Cali girl." she responded.
"I was adopted by a fresh out of prison lesbian couple years ago when my mom decided she had enough of me. They moved to Riverdale in Vermont and bought a mansion on the river and built me stables. I left home with my friend last week to go look for the two missing men. I was literally just kidnapped and Balboa here, who I took to adventure with my friend, followed me while I was being kidnapped all the way from the Alburg bridge to here, and the men who kidnapped me tried to rape me but she found me, attacked them, and then we took off down the street and almost ran into you." I explained, and she looked at me with wide eyes.
"Shit. That is badass." she responded, laughing. She patted Balboa's neck, and we found our way into Times Square. ------ "Mom! Come 'ere!" she yelled, and an middle aged woman walked out of the tack room. She was taller, and she had long black hair like Sydney.
"Yes, what?" she responded, wiping her hands on her tan breeches. She looked Balboa and I up and down, and she raised an eyebrow.
"I need you to give my friend an extra stall for her horse." Sydney told her mom, and her mom rolled her eyes.
"ABSOLUTELY not. Do you know how much board is here and how many people are on a waiting list? I can't just fill up a stall for free." she responded, rolling her eyes and attempting to walk off.
"Mom, you would turn down a horse in need? Wow..." Sydney retorted, folding her arms and shaking her head. Her mom looked around, bit her lip, and then stomped her foot on the ground.
"FINE. But only for a few weeks. And then you're OUT." she told me, wagging her finger in my face. I nodded, hopped off of Balboa, and followed Sydney's mom to a stall at the end of the barn. I put Balboa in it, untacked her, and Balboa immediately rolled and fell asleep. Poor girl.
"Looks like she made herself at home." Sydney said, laughing at Balboa, who was laying down and dozing off.
"Yup." I responded, laughing at her too.
"Let's go make you at home. C'mon, we have a guest room in our apartment." Sydney told me, starting to walk out of the barn. I followed her, and while I walked, I felt my phone buzz. It was probably Holly. I will call her back.

My phone went to voicemail. Dumb fuck. I thought. I shut off my phone and put it back in my pocket. According to my map, I'm technically right outside of the town. I sighed, catching my breath. My legs were protesting against every step I took. I finally reached the edge of town, wishing I had Pepperoni. I looked around, sighing, hoping that Ramona is okay. Goddamnit, Pepperoni has all my shit. It would probably be useless to try and find him now, Pepperoni probably followed Balboa and Balboa probably followed Ramona. I walked down the sidewalk, the town was a bit quiet. The occasional car passed by me, and I was hoping that the cars didn't think too much of me. There was an emergency room about a block down. My first instinct was to go there but then again, I didn't have any money. I sighed, assuming that I would just sleep on a bench like a homeless person. I fastened my belt after deeming my pants were dry enough. I looked up towards the sky, puffing my cheeks and blowing up towards the sun. I glanced at the shop to my right before I almost jumped five feet in the air at the horn of a car. I whipped around, pulling my knife out and holding it out towards the car. The car in question was a silver Nissan. The window rolled down, allowing me to get a good look at the person in question.
"Told my dad I was going on a joyride." Darren said from the passenger side of the car. I smiled, relief washing over my body.
"Are you serious? You drove a whole two hours to get here?" I asked laughing a bit. "It took us two whole days!"
"Well you guys were on horses, I was running on horse power." He said unlocking the car.
"Do not ever joke like that again that was horrible." I said laughing.
"You laughed." He said smiling. I rolled my eyes. "Definitely laughed."
"How did you know I was here?" I asked, a little skeptical.
"When you were talking to me you said you were by a lake. Then you said you were going to go to a town, assuming you'd lost the horses from your story, and that you went, quote unquote 'exploring' you were going away from Riverdale. So, I went to the nearest town on the New York side of the nearest lake and took a guess at what street you'd be on." He's hot and he's smart. I shook my head, wait what?
"Impressive. So, where are we going." I asked rolling my shoulders.
"I'm guessing you don't have any money." He said, glancing at me.
"You'd be right about that." I said, opening the center console.
"You also smell," I winced, really? "But that's fine," he added quickly after he said it. "You mostly just smell like blood nothing bad. But technically that is bad to other people so..." I raised my eyebrows silently telling him to continue. "We're going to need to get you new clothes."
I felt my face turn red, "I don't have money! I don't need new clothes I'm fine." I said crossing my arms and looked out the window. The next thing I knew we were in front of Hot Topic. I turned to Darren, narrowing my eyes. "There's no way you're getting me to go in there."
He raised his eyebrows, "Is that a challenge?"
"I'm not letting you spend money on me! I was the dumbass who forgot her money and now I have to walk around with bloodstained clothes." I say, looking at him.
"I'm not letting you ride in my car with blood on you."
"Then I'll get out and I can walk."
"You wouldn't"
"Oh I would." I said, smiling and holding my chin up.
"Fine then get out of my car." He said. This was a trap, I thought as I opened the passenger side door of the car. I turned my head getting out of the car. Fatal mistake, I felt a hand close around my wrist. I was yanked forward, almost falling flat on my face but regaining my balance.
"Oh my God!" I yelled as he pulled me towards the store. "You wouldn't catch me alive in that store!" I pulled the other way from him. Trying to get my arm out of his grip.
He laughed, an amazing sound if you ask me. Oh my God stop that! "I have to kill you to get some clothes?"
"Oh my God you're terrible."

Sydney's apartment was GORGEOUS. I always dreamed of owning a house on the beachside, but if I had to own an apartment in New York, it would be one like this. Everything was either white or gold. There were riding trophies everywhere, and pictures of Sydney's mom riding all around the apartment. There was a hanging glass chandelier and expensive glass sculptures everywhere.
"Might wanna close your mouth, your jaw's hanging." she said sarcastically, tapping the bottom of my chin with her finger. I rolled my eyes and followed her down a narrow hallway, and then into a bedroom. It was horse themed, like the rest of the apartment, and of course I couldn't complain. The bed was huge, and the sheets were fluffy. There were rosettes and pictures of horse all around the walls.
"Your mom sure does have a lot of rosettes huh?" I asked, and Sydney shook her head in disbelief.
"I think she's shown more times than she has spoken to me." she responded, slapping her hand on the bed.
"I'll order our butler to buy you some clothes from Louis Vitton, it's just across the street. Oh, and some breeches from Dover and Exceptional Equine. You have to be ready for your lesson tomorrow." Sydney told me, grabbing her phone and texting her butler.
"Louis Vitton? What? And a LESSON? I have no fucking money!" I exclaimed, and she shook her head.
"You really think you were gonna live in the same house as Lorraine Halua and not get lessons? Bitch please." Sydney responded, rolling her eyes and walking to her room. That name sounded familiar. Lorraine Halua...holy shit.
"Sydney, your mom was in the OLYMPICS?!" I exclaimed, running to her room. She was sitting on her bed. She looked up from her phone and smirked at me.
"Yup." she responded, smiling at me.
"Well you could've mentioned that, oh my god. Does your dad ride too?" I asked, and she shook her head.
"My dad left when I was a baby. Mom said he left when I was a baby, and last she heard, he was with some blonde bimbo. Who gives a shit. Let's go watch TV." she responded, grabbing my wrist and pulling me into their enormous living room. ------ "Fuck!" I exclaimed, slamming my phone into my pocket. That was the sixth time I tried calling Holly, but of course there was no answer. I was standing on their terrace that overlooked New York City. It was beautiful and I loved being with Sydney, but I couldn't help but think that my moms are worried sick out there somewhere, and that maybe Holly wad dead.
"You good?" I heard a voice say, and I turned around to find Sydney coming out of the apartment to stand with me.
"I think Holly might be dead...and I don't know where my moms are." I responded, looking down in defeat. I felt something inch along my arm, and I turned to look, and my eyed widened when it was her hand. It finally intertwined with mine, and I looked over at her, and she was smiling.
"Let's go." she said, squeezing my hand and pulling me.
"Where?!" I exclaimed, and she shoved me out of the apartment, slammed the door, and grabbed my arm.
"To find your family, duh." she responded, grabbing my wrist and forcing me to run down the hallway with her. At this point, why not. -----
We were in her mom's Roll's Royce. She only has her permit, but whatever. We packed some clothes and food just in case. She always has money. We just drove out of New York City, and the buildings and lights turned into trees and plains. No matter how far we went, it looked the same . We kept driving, but she told me we would go home before her mom found out.
"What does this friend look like?" she asked.
"Taller than me, half black, part pink hair, dark eyes." I described, and she nodded.
"I could've guessed the taller than you part." she responded, side eyeing me and smiling. I punched her arm and she laughed.
"Stawp it. Rude." I retorted, blowing a raspberry at her.
"Where did you last see her?" Sydney asked, looking left and right at her windsheild.
"At the top of the state, all the way by the Alburg bridge. I don't have any idea where she is or if she is ok." I said shakily, terrified if she was dead.
"She's not dead. I can guarantee that. We just have to keep looking." Sydney responded, grabbing my hand again. I smiled and squeezed hers. She is ok. She is ok.

I sighed, walking out of the building. In the end Darren had won and I had new clothes. They looked about the same as the ones soaked in blood. The only difference between my new clothes and my old ones were the rips in the jeans.
"Those were expensive!" I said, slapping his arm. I looked up at him - he's at least four inches taller than me give me a break - and watched his face change from a shocked expression to smiling.
He laughed, "Don't worry about it. I might've swiped my dad's credit card on the way out. He's called about it at least five times now."
"Ooh, bad boy huh?" I said elbowing him.
"He might be able to put me in jail now." He said, clicking the unlock button on the car keys. I pulled out my phone again, frowning at the blank notification screen. "No calls?" He asked, looking down at my phone. I quickly shut it off sighing.
"Nothing." I said, grabbing the car door handle. I swung open the door, getting in the passenger side. Darren got in the drivers side, throwing my new bag of clothes over his shoulder and into the back. The sky was getting darker, and I closed my eyes, letting my head rest on the back of the seat. He pulled the car out of the parking lot, starting to cruse around town. "Don't you have to tell your dad where you are?"
"I told him that the town that I'm in was hit with a sudden snowfall. He won't care." He said, shrugging.
"Your dad is the sheriff." I said, opening my eyes and looking at him.
"So? He's already got enough going on with the Andrew's and Bloom's case. He isn't going to worry about me that much. I told him I was staying at an air bnb or something." He glanced at me, "Why? Does me being the sheriff's kid bother you or something?"
"No!" I said way to quickly, "No, not at all. It's just, your dad is Sheriff Keller. He cares about everyone, especially you." I said, watching his face. It remained concentrated, probably on not killing us both. The silence stretched, and I was getting a little concerned. I felt the car stop and I looked around. Outside of the car was a small motel.
"This is the only motel in the city." He said looking at me, "I hope that's okay." His face brightened a bit on the new subject.
"I haven't had proper sleep in days of course it's okay." I said, jumping out of the car. I heard the rustle of a paper bag as I shut the car door. I turned and saw Darrel holding the bag of clothes. I walked up next to him, smiling. "I can charge my phone too." Darrel smiled back, the upset expression gone from his face.
He turned, "Oh, um, I kind of anticipated that this would be an overnight deal, since you're all the way out here and you didn't seem like you wanted to go back home. So, I brought my own stuff, hope you don't mind." A sheepish expression landed on his face, his hand grabbing out a bag from the trunk of the car.
"You didn't think of getting me pajamas?" I said, teasing him a little for bringing stuff.
His face lit up red and he started sputtering, "Well, I, uh, brought you a pair of my pajama bottoms and an extra one of my tee-shirts." My face immediately felt hot, and I'm pretty sure I looked like a tomato.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"Um, let's go inside." I said turning towards the door. I heard the trunk slam shut and Darrel's footsteps behind me. He opened the door, and I stepped in front of him, walking through first. We walked up to the counter. "Hello and welcome to the only shitty motel in the town how may I help you." The lady at the desk said. She looked bored waving her hand at us, the only clear sign she was listening.
"Uh can we get a room overnight for one night?" Darrel said to her. She glanced up at us.
"Single bed or double bed?" She asked, and I guess we looked confused so she clarified, "Number of beds sweetheart."
"Double." I blurted out before Darrel could say something stupid.
"Room 204" She said, throwing the key at my chest. I caught it and huffed. I grabbed Darrel's wrist and pulled him along behind me.
"204, 204, 202, 203, ah! 204." I said proudly as I put the key in the slot. I turned it a bit, hearing the lock click. I smiled, turning to look at Darrel. I swung the door open holding my hand out in front of me. "Good sir." I said, laughing a bit.
"Thank you ma'am." He said, laughing with me. He threw his bag and the shopping bag on the bed. He turned to me after I shut the door. "You should call Ramona again. Maybe she tried to call you and your phone acted up because your service was weird. I doubt she hasn't tried calling you."
I sighed, "You're right I'll try calling her after I change and my phone is plugged in. Now, throw me those pajamas you promised." ----- I woke up with the sun in my face. Guess we forgot to close the curtains. I heard my phone buzzing on the table. I threw my covers off in a panic. I jumped up, tripping over the long legs on the pajamas that I was wearing. I fell, holding my hand out to reach my phone. I grabbed it as I fell, resulting in me landing on the ground with my phone in my hand and wires and Darren's phone in my face. I answered the call without anymore hesitation, fearing it would go to voicemail. "Ramona?" I asked hopeful that it was her that was calling.
"Aw she sounds so hopeful." A man's voice in the background spoke.
"Who the hell are you?" I said, my voice immediately turning hostile. I saw Darren sit up in his bed, wipe his eyes, then look at me concerned. I put my finger to my lips to tell him to be quiet. His brows furrowed and his mouth turned into a frown.
"You should know who I am by now." Another man's voice said through the call. His voice sounded closer to the phone, it also sounded deeper than the other guy's.
"What the hell have you done with Ramona?" I said growling.
"We had her, but unfortunately, she got away from us. We have no idea where she is."
"Bullshit-"
"Although she does keep calling you. An awful lot, it's getting harder to block all of her calls. You've also been calling her a lot. Are you two separated?" He said, and my eyes widened. Holy shit. She hasn't been receiving my calls?
"I'm not talking to you anymore." I said, then I hung up. I sat up, drawing in a breath. I grabbed Darrel's phone, unplugged it, and threw it at him. "Unlock your phone." I said, it wasn't a question. His brows were still furrowed, and I could tell he wanted to ask what was going on. "I'll tell you in a minute." He nodded, unlocked his phone, and handed it back to me. I scrolled a bit through his contacts, finding Ramona Chapman-Vause and hitting the call button. "Pick up goddamnit." I muttered. The phone rang twice and picked up, I sighed in relief as Ramona's voice flooded through the phone.
"Darren! Have you talked to Holly? Is she okay? Why are you calling me? Are you in trouble? What's happening?" She said all in one quick sentence. I took a deep breath, and started talking afraid that Hiram would figure out what I was doing and block the call.
"Ramona it's me," I heard a small gasp on the other line, "Listen, Hiram's been blocking our calls. Probably just started happening in the past 24 hours. I'm fine I---" A beeping sound overtook my voice. I pulled the phone away from my ear looking at the contact list that was now displayed on the phone, "Just need to know where you are..." I finished, my voice getting quieter as I finished the sentence. I threw the phone down onto the bed, "GODDAMNIT!" I yelled, kicking the mattress. Darrel grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him. I was too angry and tired to care. I let him drag me into his arms. I felt one arm go to my waist, holding me, and the other go to my hair. I sighed as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders. "Thank you." I whispered into his shoulder.
"No problem."

I closed my eyes. We were on the move again. The phone call with Ramona still pissing me off to no end. I had tried calling her back, but no answer. I had gotten changed into the new clothes Darren had got me. My belt the only old thing I was wearing. I had wanted to switch out my knife, but I remembered that the rest of them were on Pepperoni still. Darren flicked through different news channels, trying to find one that wasn't about death or politics. "--A horse was found on the--" Darren switched the radio again, cutting off whatever the man said. "Wait! Go back." I said quickly. He shot me a look and switched it back to the one it was before. "I didn't even think you were listening."
"--Near Alexandrea Bay. The horse had knives and a few articles of clothing. We have found the owner of the horse, Ramona Chapman-Vause. As of right now she is in custody at the New York City Police Department for knowing Larry Bloom. She is being investigated and---" I shut the radio off, putting my head in my hands. They have her. What are they going to do to me? I took a deep breath, looking up and placing my hands on my lap.
"Change of plans." I said, "We're going to New York City." ---------- The car ride felt long, longer than it needed to be at least. I had my phone plugged into Darren's car, playing my music over the speakers. It was playing softly in the background, just loud enough that it covered the engine. I looked out the window, seeing the tall buildings that made it officially New York City. I sighed, looking at the buildings as we passed, one of them caught my eye. It had a bright red sign with the word "Peleton." I looked at it, struggling to remember why it felt so familiar. It hit me like a ton of bricks, "I like to do the peleton for exercise, my moms got one and they said I should start using it. It's really cool, you should try one time!" "Darren pull over." I said abruptly, grabbing his arm.
"Why? Do you see something?" He asked, pulling the car over and parallel parking it easily.
"There's no way she would pass up the peleton store." I said, hoping to find any sign that she was there. "Maybe the lady knows how she was caught." I jumped out of the car, quickly j-walking across the street, Darren on my heels.
"That wasn't very smart." He said laughing a bit.
"Who the fuck cares?" I said smiling up at him. I opened the door and immediately noticed two things, one, Ramona wasn't there, and two, there was a girl with jet black hair crying with the instructor. The girl and the instructor looked up at me and Darren.
"Sorry but we're---" The instructor started to say before she was cut off by the girl.
"You look like the girl she described." The girl said, standing up quickly.
"What?" I asked.
"Ramona, she said that she was separated from someone. We went looking for you a few days ago, we couldn't find you. You look exactly like she described." She said, "I'm Sydney." She added as an afterthought.
"I, uh, I'm Holly." I said, "You know Ramona?"
Sydney flushed a light pink, "I met her the other day, she's really sweet." I felt a light stab in my gut from Darren elbowing me.
I elbowed him back, "And this is Darren."
"Hi."
"We heard Ramona is in custody. Do you know how or why?" I asked, getting to what I really wanted to know.
"You just missed her." Sydney said, sniffling a bit. "It's all my fault. I knew my mom was an asshole! I shouldn't have brought her to my house! I shouldn't have...!" She trailed off and I grabbed her shoulders.
"Hey, hey, it's okay, it's fine, come on let's go sit down." -------- After Sydney calmed down, she had told us about her mother and Ramona's riding lesson. She told us that she was suspicious when her mother had asked Ramona if she knew Larry Bloom. Her mother then probably framed Ramona. "Good thing you caught me." She said taking a swig from her water. "I was just about to go down to the police station myself."
"We could drive you." Darren said. Sydney smiled gratefully.
"Thank you guys. I wouldn't have known what to do if you didn't find me." She said, still smiling.
"It's no problem." I said, following behind Darren. He held the door open for me and made a grand, 'go through' gesture with his hand. I stuck my tongue out at him and he smiled.
"I just have to say, you guys look so cute together! When did you guys get together?" Sydney blurted out. Blood rushed to my face and Darren looked shocked.
"I- uh- we aren't-" I coughed as Darren stuttered around his sentence.
"Oh my God I'm so sorry I just assumed! You guys would be cute to together though." She said awkwardly. My face was still on fire as I pointed to Darren's car.
"It's that one." I said, checking for traffic, I ran across the street like when I first got here. I could hear footsteps on my heels, although it only sounded like one pair. I reached the car and turned around. Sydney was still standing on the other side. "You won't get hit I promise!"
"But what if a car comes across and I do?" She yelled back. I sighed, running back across the street.
"I did it twice. See? I'm not dead yet." I said laughing.
"I know, I just wanted one of you to come over here so that I can tell you to make a move already." She said, then ran across, leaving me on the sidewalk. I laughed, throwing my head back to look up at the sky, smiling. That bastard.

I sat in my cell, staring at the wall. My poor moms. They told me their prison was fun, and if it wasn't for the prison, they wouldn't have reunited, gotten married and adopted me. At least they had each other. I got up and started to trace the cracks in the wall.
"Hey kid. Bail's been paid." a male voice said. I turned to the bars of my cell and expected to see the familiar face of Sydney, but instead I saw three familiar Italian men. Shit.
"Hey Ro! Let's go, we gotta have a talk on the way home." Beto said, holding his arms out. If I didn't I would probably either be killed or thrown back in juvie. The cop opened the door to my cell, and I sheepishly walked out and gave him a hug.
"Sorry officer, she won't be anymore trouble." Gabriel told the cop with a smile. We walked out of the police station, and they threw me into the black car they used to kidnap me last time.
"We're gonna go for a little road trip. You need a little space from your sweet little girlfriend. We also need to be as far away from Vause as possible, since she's headed this way." Bo told me, handcuffing me and seatbelting me in. My heart stopped. They knew about me staying with Sydney? And my MOM?
"My mom?!" I squealed in sadness.
"Vause is headed to New York to find you. Hiram always knows how to spy on anyone. She is around the Alburg bridge area. Left for New York a day ago with the Topaz-Blossoms." Beto said, stepping on the gas and swerving in and out of traffic, like he was good at doing. A tear dropped down my face. All of this could've not happened if I didn't go to that stupid fucking lesson. ------ About an hour later, we were out of New York. I could tell because it was no longer grass, but it looked country almost. My heart ached. I wanted my moms and my horses and Holly and Sydney. These fucking turds are probably all going to rape me and then give me to Hiram so he could sacrifice me or something.
"Only a few hours left. We are going to Florida Keys for you to meet someone special." Beto told me, smirking in the rear view mirrow. I gulped. Probably someone bad. ----- Around 6 hours later, even though I had a full bladder and my cheeks were dry with salt from tears, we arrived in Florida Keys. I have to admit, it was gorgeous. They told me we were on the Summerland key. We were right on the beach, the car was actually on the sand.
"Get out. Flora will get you dressed." Bo said, shoving me out of the car and into the hot sand. Gabriel walked around the car and grabbed my arms, and took me to a little hut. There was a plump Indian woman there who looked like she was on the verge of tears.
"I'm Flora...i'll be your dresser..." she said shakily, and motioned for me to sit down.
"For what..?" I asked. She sobbed quietly and walked to the back corner of the hut, and she pulled a long, elaborate and expensive white wedding dress out of the cabinet. My eyes widened.
"Come here, dear..." she asked, motioning with her arms. I did as she said, which was to take off my clothes and hold my hands up. She got me into the dress, and then she walked me back over to the stool. She started to do my hair. I was freaking out. Why was I in Florida Keys wearing a wedding dress with three horrible Italian men outside a small wooden hut when just 10 hours ago I was in New York in the Peleton studio with Sydney?
"How would you like your hair for the wedding?" she asked, going through my thick locks of hair.
"Wedding?! What wedding?!" I exclaimed, breathing fast and looking around. She looked like she was on the verge of tears again, but she shushed me and held my head still. She then got to work on my hair. For an old lady, she worked fast. About 20 minutes after she started, my hair was now in a half up half down do, and it was braided and curled. She also did my makeup.
"Have a great wedding dear...good luck..." she mumbled to me, and then she started to cry.
"Oh, enough Flora. Let's go Ramona." Bo boomed, grabbing my handcuffed hands. I started to cry, for I was terrified and had no idea what was going on.
"Shut up. You're going to ruin your makeup and Kubra will NOT be happy about that." Bo growled at me. He stopped and rubbed my face with his hand, and we kept walking. We were on the Niles Road Beach, and it was midday. It was warm and the water was a beautiful aqua blue/green. What I also saw made my jaw drop. A huge white isle stood in front of me. There were rows and rows of chairs with people in them, and there were white roses everywhere. There was a beautiful white alter up ahead, and there was a teenage boy my age, two men, and a clergy man. Beto straightened me with the isle, and he shoved a bouquet of white roses into my handcuffed hands.
"You walk down this isle or you, your moms, and your little friends die." he growled into my ear.

"You did what?!" I yelled, slamming my hands down on the countertop. We were standing in the police station, supposedly the one Ramona was taken to. I was furious, they gave her away just like that?
"Her bail was paid, so we let her go." One of the police officers said, "They claimed they were family friends."
"Family fuc--" I was interrupted from my yelling by Darren grabbing my arm and yanking me back.
"Did she look upset when she left with them?" Darren asked the police officer calmly. I didn't understand, how the fuck could he be so calm?
"She looked okay when she left." The officer said again.
"What did the guy she went with look like?" He said, standing up straighter.
"We can't give you--"
"My dad is the sheriff of Riverdale a few towns down, I think you can give me that." Darren said, pressing her for answers. She opened her mouth as if to say something then shut it again.
"She left with three guys. They all looked pretty burly. That's all I can remember I didn't pay much attention to them." She said and then got up and walked back into another room.
"We should probably go before we're put in a cell ourselves." Darren said to me and Sydney before lightly shoving me toward the door. Sydney nodded her head, already making her way toward the exit. Me, on the other hand, I was still fuming, I wanted to turn around and give the lady a piece of my mind. Letting her leave with one of Kubra's goons? Seriously? Darren's hand was still pushing me towards the door when Sydney opened it. She was halfway out the door when we were met with a man in a professional looking suit.
"I thought you'd want to see what Ramona looks like when she's about to get married." ------------ Sydney was in tears again, and I was helpless. We were sitting in the back of a limo, with Hiram Lodge sitting up at the front in the passengers seat. In front of us was a screen showing security camera footage at what looked to be a wedding. It clearly showed Ramona's face who looked highly uncomfortable. Up at the front there was a boy around our age, looking as uncomfortable as us. Ramona's hands were cuffed together, but only noticeable if you really looked due to the bouquet that was placed in her hands.
"She looks beautiful." Sydney whispered from right next to me. Darren was shifting in his seat next to me, looking out the window. He occasionally looked at the screen, wincing every time he did. I dropped my head into my hands, not wanting to watch the screen. Suddenly the screen switched to the inside of a car. The shockingly red hair was hard to mistake.
"Mother?" I whispered. In the passenger seat was my mother, fiery red hair neatly combed. In the drivers seat, the wild pink hair of my mom evident as ever. In the back behind them were Ramona's parents. The blonde hair contrasting the black perfectly. I stared at the screen now, shocked. "What are you going to do to them!" I yelled up at the front. "Hiram I know you can hear me!" A loud thunk registered in my ears, my breathing heavy. My hand was held out in front of me, my body halfway off the seat. My vision focused on the knife that was now lodged into the top of the monitor, making the screen go black. I closed my eyes, breathing in and then out again. I got off the seat, making my way over to my knife the best I could. When I reached it, I pulled it out of the screen, sparks flying from the gap. I held it near Hiram, "This is coming for your head next." I muttered. All he gave me was a small smile, I hated it. I got back to my seat, leaning back. I tilted my head back onto the seat, closing my eyes.
"What's going to happen to her?" Sydney asked from right next to me. No one answered her, and she started crying again. We jolted to a stop at an empty parking lot. There was another car there, it looked like a jeep. A man opened the door to the limo on Sydney's side.
"Get out of the car and into that one." Hiram said, pointing to the door. Sydney got out with barely any protest, mostly because she was so emotional.
"Where are we going?" Darren said, as I crossed my arms as the man motioned me out the door.
"Florida of course! He said, fake happiness dripping from his voice, "Don't you want to be there when your friend gets married?"

I tried to fiddle around for my phone to call someone before I walked, to try to save myself, but I forgot Beto smashed it and threw it out of the car window in Pennsylvania. I gulped and took my first step onto the isle. Every step felt heavy and forced, especially because I had no fucking clue what was going on. An organ was played as I walked, and it gave me the chills. The boy smiled at me, but I kept a straight face. When I got to the alter, Beto straightened me in front of him and took my bouquet. The boy took my hands. They were cold and squishy, like regular boy hands. I wanted to barf.
"Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming. Here, in a few moments, will be the blessed day that Ramona Rosa Chapman-Vause and Zachary Darwin Balik wed to each other." the clergy man spoke. Balik? That's Kubra's last name...
"As everybody here knows, we all either work for, are related to, or have some relation with Hiram or Kubra. When I was learning to be a clergy, I met Hiram at a bar and he offered to help pay for my schooling. I have worked for him ever since. It is my honor to wed his best friend's son to his arranged wife that he chose himself." the clergy man boomed, smiling at us. He chose ME?! Of course he fucking did.
"Zachary is 18 years old, and in 18 short years of life, me managed to find the love of his life. Today is the day we wed him to the woman of his dreams. Zachary, your vows." the clergy spoke, looking down at Zachary.
"Ramona, as the son of the ruling drug lord Kubra, I vow to always keep you safe and rich with everything you need. You are my chosen wife, and for complying to marry me, I vow to do anything you wish that is under my father's law. I vow to one day rule Kubra and Hiram industries and to swiftly remove your mothers from the picture, so that we can live a full and happy life together." Zachary spoke, smiling at me. No, no, no.
"Ramona is the biological daughter of Kubra's right hand woman. They call her the "dark witch", for she is the charmer that lures civilians into our industries to be customers or hostages. Her mother is no other than Maria Cortez. In fact, they are taking their honeymoon to the warm Playa La Redonda, where her mother's palace is! She is also the adopted daughter of Alex Vause, who is Kubra's former queen of distributing, who betrayed him. By Maria giving Ramona up for adoption, and for Ramona marrying Zachary, she is helping Hiram and Kubra Industries find Vause to erase her and her wife. So, with that in mind, your vows, Ramona." the clergy man explained. I felt sick to my stomach. My real mother is out there, working for this shit? And she somehow gave me up for adoption to the right people and had waited years for me to be arranged to marry Kubra's son? The fuck?
"Um...I didn't have any planned...."I spoke, looking down at my feet. Kubra, who standing farther behind Zachary, narrowed his eyes at me. The clergy man cleared his throat, so I guess I have to make something up.
"I...um...Zachary, I plan to be by your side....and...I guess the same you vowed?" I responded, and Zachary shook his head and laughed.
"The sense of humor on this one!" he joked to the guests, and they all laughed.
"Are you two ready?" the clergy man asked, and Zachary stared at me and nodded happily. I sheepishly nodded, because I saw Kubra looking over at different scary looking men who had big muscles and angry faces.
"Zachary Darwin Balik, will you take Ramona Rosa Chapman-Vause as your loftly wedded wife?" the clergy man asked.
"I do!" Zachary responded without hesitation, and he slipped a very expensive and beautiful ring on my finger.
"Ramona Rosa Chapman-Vause, do you vow to take Zachary Darwin Balik as your loftly wedded husband?" the clergy man asked me, giving me an evil glare.
"I....I....do?" I responded, looking down at my feet. Zachary squeezed my hands tighter, signaling me to look up. He stuffed another very expensive wedding band in my hand, and I uncomfortably put it on Zachary's hand.
"By the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife!" the clergy man cheered, and the guests smiled, clapped, hooted and hollared. Zachary bent down and grabbed my sides, and pulled me into a kiss. It was rock hard, gewy and gross. He then held me by my waist and dragged me down the isle as people took pictures and threw white rose petals at us.
About half an hour later, they had stuffed me down at a table next to him. They forced me to stand with him as he made a toast, and then they made me eat some white wedding cake.
"It's here!" Kubra cheered, pulling us up. A mid sized boat pulled up to the beach, and a ramp extended. It had a "Just Married" banner on the back window.
"Have fun on your honeymoon you two! Say hello to your mother for me!" Kubra said excitedly as Zachary pulled me onto the boat. They closed the ramp, and the man driving the boat moved some things around so we could sit and look at the ocean.
"Playa La Redonda?" he asked, and Zachary nodded.
"Casa Veinti Dos." Zachary responded in a horrible spanish accent. The man started the boat. As we started to drive away, a limo pulled up. Sydney exploded out of it.
"RAMONA!!!! RAMONA!!!!" she screamed and sobbed.
"CARLOS! GO!" Kubra yelled, and the man sped off very quickly, quick enough to the point where I accidentally dropped my bouquet in the ocean. I saw Holly and Darren get out, and I stood up and called back for them. Zachary held me down and pinned my knees to the seat. I saw Sydney sink to her knees and start to sob, and Holly and Daren rubbed her shoulder to comfort her. Holly stared at me and whispered something I couldn't make out. I cried and watched as they faded into little black dots, and then vanished with the island.
