"Sign here, here and here." I told the lady, who did as I said. I watched as her teenage daughter stroked Eleven's face, who snorted in hers. She smiled and started braiding her brown forelock, which made her snort and flare her nostrils. "Great! When can she start riding them?" the lady asked, a smile stretched across her face. "Well, since she lives here for the next month, she can ride whenever she wants." I told them, and the girl smiled, and rushed to the tack room. "Millie is so excited to be living here for the next month and leasing all of your horses. It's a great opportunity for her." Millie's mom said, laughing as she jogged back to Eleven holding a saddle, Eggo saddle pad, her bridle and boots. She eagerly put on Eleven's halter and tied her up in her stall, and feverishly groomed her. As she currycombed Eleven, Millie's short brown hair bobbed up and down, making Eleven watch it warily but in amusement. "I'm going to be going...see you soon, Millie!" Millie's mom called, hopped into her SUV, and drove away. A few minutes later, Millie was tacked up, and had placed her helmet on her head, not bothering to make a ponytail of her short brown hair. She was wearing a cross country vest, and had a matching yellow shirt on with Eleven, who had an Eggo saddlepad. "I'm going to do some cross country with her. Wanna come?" Millie asked, the smile not washing off of her face. "Sure! You go warm her up over some small ones, and i'll meet you down there." I told her, and she pranced off, Eleven just as eager as she is. I decided to try riding Hermione, since Zieza was taking a little break from jumping. After I tacked her up in a Harry Potter saddlepad and one of Zieza's jumping saddles, I met Millie down at the cross country course, where she was trotting over a circle of trot pole logs. I pushed Hermione into a trot, which she obeyed, and made me bounce out of the saddle, for she had strong strides. I bounced her over a three inch log, which she gladly hopped over. I met Millie, who was giving Eleven a walk break on the grassy field portion of the cross country course. I pushed Hermione into a canter, which she did, and we jumped over a 1'5 crate, which she gladly jumped over, and she let out an excited buck after, which I had to hold onto in able to ride, for she is strong. I hear Millie laugh, and then I heard Eleven's tiny hooves crushing the grass. I looked up as they jumped a 1'9 log standing up, which made her brown tail swish up into the air. I watched as Millie kicked her into a flying lead change, and they went towards a 1'6 barrel jump, which made Eleven pick up a faster canter. When they approached the jump, Eleven took off, clearing three inches of air between the jump and her stomach. I followed over the log and to the barrels, which made Hermione's head pop up, and when she took off, I flew onto her neck, for her jumping was strong and took me by surprise. "Is she new?" Millie asked as we walked them on the cross country course, giving them a break. "I actually got her yesterday. Some lady dumped her off to me, and I don't know why, she's an amazing jumper." I told her, patting Hermione's neck and fluffing her white mane. "Same with Eleven-she's so smooth!" she cheered, stroking her fingers through Eleven's brown mane. I kicked Hermione into a trot and jumped her over a 2 foot wagon jump that was 1 foot wide, which she stuck her front hooves out for. Millie followed, and Eleven jumped it happily, which made me smile.

"I can't even with you!" I said, looking down at the large bite mark on my arm, oozing blood. "Really Nitro!" He stood, looking pleased with himself. "Yeah, you better be happy, because no one else is!" He just stared at me. Soon after, he turned to the green lunge line that was snapped to his halter and proceeded to bite at it. "You can't get it off!" He ignored. I cracked the whip down on the floor behind him, and he too off into a swift canter. Every now and then he would charge at me, and in order to keep him away I had to throw my hands up. "Gosh, your such a brat," I then remembered that I once had to train a young stallion, not as bad as Nitro, but naughty. He wouldn't listen unless I showed no threat. I decided to let Nitro calm down until experimenting. Once he came to a halt, I held the whip up high. His head shot up, following it's every move. Is nostrils flared and he let out a snort. I then continued to throw the whip outside of the round pen. I don't have anything now. He better not play games. I then gave a cluck and he just stood for a second, then began to walk. I started to get hope. In no time he was under my control, in a relaxed canter, with his head down to his knees. I walked up to him, and for the first time, he showed no threat, not even his ears where back. "I know you were trained for carts and what not, but anything else you can do?"
I decided to try something that was insane. I snapped the lead rope onto one side of his halter, then the other end I tied on his other cheek. I lead him over to the fence slowly climbed onto his tall back. To be exact, 18.1 hh. I had never been this high up. I suddenly started to sweat. I can't fall now! I then opened the gate from up on his back and walked out slowly. I lead him to the jumping arena, and started with a small jump of about 1 foot. He was okay, nothing special. once we got to 2 foot though, he was very clumsy. I almost fell a couple of times. "Well, jumping is out of the question," I sighed. Then I lead him to the dressage court. We started in a trot which looked very lovely from the ground, for it was smooth and in was like floating. A smile spread across my face. Now for the canter. I was swift, but when I pulled back just a little, he collected himself and sat on his haunches. I was so proud! I even tried some 3 tempi changes and he did the perfectly! I fell in love with his extended trot. I could see his legs in front of me, launching up and out, his hooves almost higher than his chest. "Wahoo!" I let out a holler. "I found a Dressage boy! And your still a stallion!"

"WOAH Velvet!" I yelled. I had just walked into the bar when thunder struck. Velvet started to buck and rear. Moon was wide-eyed, he reared once then stopped. Carrot started to bite the salt block that I have in her stall. Max and Tot ran and hid in a corner. "Calm down all of you!" I yelled. Velvet stopped bucking and rearing but pranced nervously in her stall. Carrot stopped biting the salt block but is now licking it nervously. Max and Tot had started to run around the barn. I went into the feed room where I prepared everything for Velvet. Then I threw two flakes each into Carrot and Moon's stalls while I waited for Velvets to finish preparing. Then I threw everything into her stall for her. Then I went back to the feed room and got Max and Tot's dishes ready. I was closing the feed room door when another thunderclap when I realized I forgot to latch the barn door. The door swung open right when another thunderclap sounded. That made Velvet jolt her head up and Moon start to buck. Carrot didn't know what to think of this so she just stood there, the white in her eyes showing. I sprinted across the barn. I reached the door right before my dogs decided to make a run for it. I grabbed both the doors that were blowing in the wind. The dogs were halfway to the door when I pulled the doors shut. They closed with a loud bang which made Velvet rear. I latched the door shut as my dogs skidded to a stop right in front of it. "Augh! I don't have a change of clothes in here!" I complained. My whole shirt front was soaked and plastered to my skin. My jeans turned a deep blue because they were soaked too. The whole front of the barn was wet. When I had first gotten this barn I had them install a bed on top of my desk area. Just in case I couldn't get back to my house. I had my laptop on my desk with an internet cord next to it in case the wifi went down. I took my phone out of my back pocket and plugged it in. (Only the front side of me was soaked) I was about to get rags when I heard the beeping of the dryer. "Oh! I forgot about that!" I said. I went to the washroom and I pulled out a change of clothes. I changed into them in no time.
I was working on my computer when I realized that the barn was starting to become dark and cold. I looked out the front window of the barn. I thought my vision was weird when I realized that I couldn't see the house. The sky had become dark and the rain had become heavier. I went over to the light swich and the heater and turned them both on. "What a day." I said as I looked at the time, "It's already 5:30!"

It was a new day, and I began working with the one stallion the AES left me with. "Two more days until Velvet comes back!" I said excitedly. Obviously Nitro did not care, but I did. I thought about riding him in a bridle, but I remembered how good we was bit-less. I decided to call the USDF. "Hello?" "Hello, how may I help you?" the voice on the other end of the line said. "Well, I had a question," I said. "Yes, what is it?" "So, I have a nice stallion that the AES just left me with, and I was wondering If I could have him entered into the USDF?" "Why of course! I will send you the papers. What is your name?" "My name is Lilianne Stallings," I said. There was no response for a good five seconds. Then, I heard the lady I was speaking with murmur to someone in the room with her, "Oh my gosh, Lilianne Stallings is on the line!" What the hell?! "Sorry, I am back! Um, for such a good member and rider, registration is free!" "Oh, why thank you!" I said, then on with my question. "Um, am I allowed to ride bit-less?" "You can do that, with a stallion? Oh wow, that’s great! Yes, you can, nothing against it in the rules!" "Thank you, good bye!" Ahh, finally. These people I swear. I then walked outside to Nitro and examined him. "I think I will lounge you before all of my rides to make sure you don't kill me," I said sarcastically, but then remembered that was a 50% possibility. I then put a surcingle on him and lunged him. I then tacked him up with a nice dressage pad, some white polo raps, a whole saddle pad, and a dressage bridal with no bit. It looked weird seeing the straps for the bit hanging down with no bit clanking on the end. I then ran through some 2nd level tests, and he did lovely shoulder ins, and we started to practice 2 tempi changes. "I think we are ready to show. Not for 2 weeks of course. I will move you to the shows grounds 3 days before, that way you get settled in," I said, patting his sweaty shoulder.

"Velvet!" Screamed a very exited Lilianne. We had just entered the barn so Lilianne could take Velvet home. Nitro had been moved to the new stall Lilianne had built. "Your coming home with me!" Lilianne sang. I laughed as Velvet sneezed in Lilianne's face. "Thanks for taking care of her for me." She said. "No Problem!" I said, "I haven't ridden her though, you had warned me not to." Lilianne laughes. "Yep! Well I have to go, bye!"

I did a little hop and jumped onto V's back, and with just a lead rope connected to one side of her halter, we trotted off. "V, I hope you were good!" I then halted and walked back to Leah who was closing up the barn. I tossed her a hundred bucks. "Oh, I don't need it," I looked at her. "But you want it," I smiled. "Go buy some junk. You know, something useless that you think you need but you don't," I spun Velvet around and trotted back off. We were home in 30 minutes, and when I got back, my dogs went nuts. "Hi bubs!" I told them. I went up into my driveway were a pole stood off to the side with a keypad on it. I typed in my code and the large gate with a horse on it opened up. We walked in as my dogs tried to lick Velvet's nose. She just pinned her ears and bit them. I leaned forward and whispered in V's ear, "We have a new guest!" I was so excited. "I am gonna take all of you to the Recto Chapter!" I sang. "All four of my horses with me, doing their very best! I can't wait!"
3 days later
I pulled up into the show grounds with my large trailer, full of my four horses. I was only the 2nd person to arrive. I had reserved my own miny barn. It had five stalls, two crossties, a lounge, tack room, and a bathroom, and just in case it rained, the whole thing was covered. I threw the 3 bales of hay and dozens of bags of shavings in the fifth empty stall that would not be used. I then unloaded all the horses. I put Nitro in the stall next to the one with food, that way he couldn't hurt any of my horses. I set up my tack room and paid for the fridge to start running. I was so happy, we were staying for 3 weeks. Shows didn't start until three days later, so the horses could get settled in before the other thousands of people came. I sat in the lounge, cooling off after hauling heavy saddles, hay bales, and shavings. "This should be interesting. Let's see if Charlote can beat me this year..."

"Good, Hermione! Just a little bit more thrust…" I told my white mare as she cantered up to a large log on my cross country course, and leapt over it with ease. I nudged her sides as we neared a ditch, and she happily jumped over it, tucking her knees into her cloudy shaded chest as she took over the ditch. She threw her head down and swished her tail as she picked up a slow gallop, nearing the direction of a tire jump. Hermione snorted excitedly when she leapt over the two foot high jump, her long, grey tail flopping up and down as she jumped. I looked back and saw Millie cantering Eleven up to a log on the ground, which El flew over easily. Millie laughed and patted her rear, and brushed some dust off of her saddle pad that said "Friends Don't Lie." I pulled Hermione to a halt while I watched Millie canter up to the ditch, which Eleven slid in front of, her eyes wide with fear. Millie kissed and kicked her sides until she finally jumped over it, taking Millie by surprise and pulling her out of the saddle. "You okay, Millie?" I called, and she nodded, holding a thumbs up. She picked up a canter right away and leapt Eleven over the logs, and I picked up a canter as well. Hermione flicked her white ears back and heard Eleven's tiny hooves padding on the cushioned dirt, which made her canter faster, until we reached a barrel jump. She thrusted herself over it, three inches of air in between her and the 2'4 foot jump. Millie steered Eleven towards it, and Eleven jumped it, just dinking one of the barrels with the tip of her Hershey Kiss shaped hooves. I rode Hermione over to a small wagon, that stood about three feet tall. She picked her head up and made larger strides, jumping effortlessly over the large wagon. Millie took Eleven over the two foot tall planter, patting her neck as she landed. I smiled at Millie and slowed Hermione to a walk, causing Millie to do the same.

"Ah, Charlot!" I said, extending my arm out to shake the 26 year old women's hand. "What have you been up to, Lilianne," The blond girl said, her blue eyes staring into mine. "Nothing but preparing my posy of horses to beat your little a-" "Are you looking for a bet or something," She said, all to familiar with my ways. "Maybe," I said. "What do you have in mind," She said, ready for anything. "A free Vatican breeding, to my mare, Twix," (Ah, see what I did there, Aly ) She stared at me, for a long time. "That's 600K's worth of bloodlines ya know," She said. "I am fully aware. What would you like on your end of the bet?" I asked. "I want a free brood from Twix," --- Time seemed to stop, as we stared at each other. The silence broke as a pigeon flew into the barn, spooking Nitro. Charlot shot her head over, looking at the stallion. "What's this? Scratch that, I want that stallion to cover four of my facility's mares, and you have to pay for all Vet bills etc." I looked at her, staring hard. "Fine, deal. Who ever receives an invitation to championships wins," I said. We shook hands once more. "I have ten horses this year, you know," she said, looking over her shoulder as she exited the barn. My stomach turned. What the hell? Ten Horses! I thought. "Damn it!"

"There you go, boys." I told my two parakeets, Calypso and Snoopy, as I closed their cage and put their bag of seeds away. They both dashed down to their food cup and started pecking at the seeds, the sounds of their tiny breaking of the seeds muffling as I walked away to feed Nero. As I walked to grab his food bowl, I saw Millie watching TV and stroking Khalifa, who was laying across the pillow that sat on her lap. I bent down and grabbed Nero's food bowl and set down my hallway that led to my garage. I could hear his paw steps hitting the hardwood floor as I opened the garage door and turned on the lights, and he was at my side when I stopped food into his bowl, and started back into the house. When I put his bowl down, he feverishly started eating, and Khalifa meowed at me, wondering where his food was. I rolled my eyes at him and walked to my kitchen, opening a cupboard and pulling out a can of Wild Buffalo Canned Cat Food and walked over to his bowl. He leapt off of Millie's lap and trotted over to me, following my spoon with his tiny blue eyes. When I was finished scooping, he meowed at me and started eating, the name tag on his collar making a dinking noise every time he reached in for a bite and caused it to hit the bowl. "Millie, wanna come feed El?" I asked Millie, who smiled and shut the TV off. She dashed to my side and we exited the sliding glass back doors, and we stepped out to see Zieza, Hermione and Eleven, all in their private stalls, which resided behind my tiny house. I led her over to the feed shed and handed her a flake of orchard hay, and she jogged over to Eleven's stall, happily plunking it into her feeder. "These are her grain instructions. Just read what to do and you'll be fine. And remember, she likes extra applesauce and peppermint shavings." I told Millie, winking at her and handing her the paper of Eleven's grain instructions. She nodded and grabbed the Beet Mix, Cosequin, pellets, her Gleam & Gain (which helps her gain weight, since she was abused and starved), her applesauce, peppermint shavings, and a cup of water to mix it together. I smiled as she happily put a cup of everything in, and mix it, adding an extra scoop of applesauce and a few more peppermint shavings. She then clucked to Eleven and slid it under her stall, giggling as she happily dived her head down to scarf it down. "You can go inside, Millie!" I called to her, and watched her disappear inside, picking up a wandering Khalifa as she sat down on the couch. I put a flake of hay in Hermione and Zieza's stall and fed them their grain, and joined Millie inside. I sat down beside her and scrolled through Instagram, liking a few pictures here or there until I got a phone call. "Hello?" I answered, not recognizing the number. "Hello, is this Aly? Aly Coasta?" said a female voice, and in the background, shushes and crying sounded. "Yes, this is she. Might I ask who is calling?" I asked, getting up and standing in the kitchen. Millie looked at me, and I smiled warmly at her, which made her smile back and watch the TV. "Hi Aly, this is Sharen Jenkins. We sort of have a problem." Sharen said, her voice scared. "A problem, what? Who..?" I started, but then the blood rushed out of my face, and my hand glued around my phone. "She won't stop crying, and we can't do anything about it. We need to give her back." Sharen said, and my phone hit the ground, scaring Khalifa into my room.
*Millie went home after that*

I looked over my tests a few times, realizing that there was no way in hell I could memorize them. I had 2 test for each horse, meaning 8 tests in total to memorize, each containing 50+ movements. I trembled. "Oh god, I entered too many classes," I then remembered that I brought $5,500 to spend. I grabbed my phone and called the number that was on my USDF papers. "Hello," a voice said from the other side of the line. "Hi, I was wondering if I could have a reader, for 8 tests," I said, looking at my money, not knowing how much it would cost. "Your total will be $40," The lady said. I sighed with relief. "My name is Lilianne Stallings, competitor number 267, and I am located at private barn E if you need anything else," I said, knowing what to say from experience. "Thank you very much," the voice said, and then the phone stopped. I walked out of my lounge area to check on the horses to see how they were settling in. I was surprised to see hundreds of trailers pulling in. A smile formed on my face, I was beyond excited to compete against the thousands of people that would arrive this week. --- "Loose horse! Loose horse!" I shot out of my seat in the tackroom. I had been oiling my saddle down when I heard someone yell. I opened the door and walked into the middle aisle of my mini barn. I saw a very handsome stallion about 100 meters away from the barn. He was dark brown with one white blaze, standing at about 17.2 hh. He had four white polo wraps on and half of his mane was braided as he came doing an extended trot down the aisle, his black lead rope attached to his leather hater dangling behind him. I ran into the feed room off to my left and grabbed a chunk of Alfalfa and plopped it down on the floor. He went right past it, but then turned around and started munching. I grabbed the rope and looked around to see if the owner was coming. No one came. I decided that once he calmed down a bit, I would take him to the office and have an announcement made for him. I walked him up to the office, as he pranced next to me. People looked at me like I was crazy, making my horse piaffe while leading him. They snicker at me, but I ignored. Once at the front office, they made an announcement and told me to tie the horse up in the shad right outside the door. I did so, but then turned around, thinking he would get bored. I was at the office already, so while I was there I rented out a golf cart and went back to my barn. I came back with an empty bucket and a hay net full of Alfalfa and Timothy. I didn't know what hay he got, but I knew for sure I wasn't gonna give him Orchard. I hated that hay, for it was nothing but fat. I tied the hay net up in the tree, and the water bucket I put on a tree stump next to him. He looked at me with kind eyes, which made me smile with joy. I hopped his owner came. As I started back for my golf cart, one of the office ladies came to check his microchip, that way we could contact the owner. After a few minutes, the owner was on the phone with the lady. Listening to the phone, the lady frowned and hung up. "What's wrong," I asked. "She said she doesn't have time for horses that run away," I looked at him. "Maybe we could sell him. Just put him up for sale so he can go to a good home," I said, looking at the handsome stallion, taking a long gulp of water. "Such a handsome boy," I said, gazing at him.

"Well, she's very cute." Leah said from the one of the backseats of my car, next to my daughter. I pulled out of Sharen's driveway and drove out of her street, and smiled as I heard her hiccup. I looked into my dashboard mirror to see her blinking her large hazel eyes at Leah, who laughed and rubbed the bubbles oozing out of her mouth with her horse baby blanket. "She is. That was so weird, though, that she stopped crying the minute Sharen put her into my arms." I told Leah, who raised her eyebrows and smiled in agreement. "It's weird to think that just two months ago I was in the hospital with you, and she was in my arms before Sharen adopted her…now you have her again!" Leah cheered, rattling one of her toys, which was a rubber duck. "Can we use her name? She's going to be with me for the next 18 years, I can't call her 'she' for the rest of her life." I told Leah, and she smiled and rubbed her soft head. As I turned onto the freeway, she sneezed, making Leah smile and rub her stomach. "Do you think Trace will want to come back in he-I mean Shailene's life now that you have her back?" Leah asked, not taking her eyes off of Shailene. "No. He filed a divorce with me because of her." I told Leah coldly, my hands gripping onto the steering wheel harder. "That and the horses." Leah responded, making a vein pop out of my head angrily. I simply just sighed out all the anger and loosened up, relieving the steering wheel of my death grip. "He just wasn't the man for me. He hated my horses and his own daughter, he is not meant for me. I never want to be in a relationship anymore because of him." I told Leah, who raised one eyebrow as she tickled Shailene's stomach. "You sure? I mean, there could be plenty of guys who love babies and horses…" Leah told me, squeaking Shailene's duck. Shailene smiled and make cooing noises and kicked her legs around, letting out tiny little laughs. "I think I'll be a good single mother. Besides, I have you!" I teased, making Leah clap and smile. "I love Shai already!" she responded, making me stifle a small laugh and smile at her new nickname.
"Pony, yeah! This is Eleven. She'll be your pony someday." I told Shailene as we toured around the stalls. She smiled and reached a small hand out to Eleven's nose, which Eleven happily nuzzled into her tiny palm. I smiled and walked around to Hermione who happily trotted up to me. She looked down at Shailene and sniffed her, Shailene staring at her with a confused expression. "I know, she's a bit bigger than the pony." I told Shailene, holding her upright with my hand supporting her tiny head. She pet Hermione as well, but Hermione swished her tail and got closer, making Shailene stare at her weirdly. Zieza had already met Shailene, and seemed bored, so I guessed that Shailene was bored. I walked her to my house and sat down on the couch, laying her in my lap with her head against my chest. As I flipped on the TV, my phone started ringing. I picked it up to see someone I haven't talked to in a few months- my sister Sophya. "Sophie?" I answered, a smile stretching from my lips. "Aly? Hi!" she cheered, and I laughed at the sound of her upbeat voice. "Sophie! I haven't talked to you in forever? How's vet school?" I asked, and she giggled. "I actually just graduated, and I…I…I need somewhere to stay." she said meekly, and I heard the engine of a car coming from her end of the phone. "You can stay with me! I have two guest bedrooms." I told her, but gritted the teeth at the thought of turning one into a nursery. "Cool! I actually have three horses I need to put somewhere, and if I remember clearly, you have dozens of stalls. Can I use three?" she asked, and I smiled and accepted it. "I'm on my way, I'll be there soon!" she cheered, and cut the line. "I forgot to tell her about Shai, damn it…" I cursed, laying my phone down and placing my hands on Shailene's tiny stomach.
I paced around my kitchen with Shai cradled to my chest in a swaddle baby carrier that also served as a shawl. My head perked up as the gates to my estate swung open, and a white truck and trailer drove in. I raced to the door and flung it open, greeting Sophya as she hopped out of her truck and walked to me. "Sophie!" I cheered, and embraced her in a tight hug. I let go as Shai sneezed and flung her legs around, her hands fumbling for my face. "When did you…?" she asked, and I smiled. "Eleven months ago I became pregnant with Trace's baby. He didn't want a baby and filed a divorce with me, and I had her adopted, but the adoptive mother didn't want her anymore, so I took her back. Her name is Shailene, she's about two months old. Her birthday is December 11'th." I explained, beaming down at Shai. Sophie reached down and picked up Shai from my swaddle, cradling her in her arms. "She's so precious!! Shame on Trace for not wanting such an adorable baby, and such a pretty wife." she said, touching one of my arms. I laughed and rubbed my hand through my caramel brown hair, looking away to her trailer. "You can unload the horses if you want. The shire is Ace, the liver chestnut is Rosalie, and the Lippy is Dragon Heart." she said, not looking away from Shai. I walked over to her trailer and unloaded one horse at a time, putting them in the three stalls closest to my house that weren't occupied by Hermione, Eleven or Zieza. I took her luggaes out of her truck and led her into my house, which she cooed at. She was happy to see Nero, Khalifa, Calypso and Snoopy, for her eyes lit up when she saw each of them. "I'm going to like it here." she said, flopping down on her bed with Shai in her arms, who grabbed her shirt with a wide, toothless smile.

"Oh my goodness," I said, staring up at the large electronic score board. Tears started dripping off my face as I stood on the 3rd dressage ring. "Lilianne Stallings's first score this season, a 82.4% riding Morse's Black Velvet. Congratulations," said the lady operating the loud speaker. I gave Velvet a huge hug on her neck. That was a new record. I hand't gotten a good score for a couple years, and for me to be riding my favorite pony was amazing. As soon as I got off of Velvet and put her away, I found Charlot sitting in my lounge. "4th level huh," She said, looking at me. "How did you do?" "82.4%," I said with a smile. "Watch out, I have my came mode on," I said, leaving her in her seat, stunned.

I laughed and gently bounced Shailene on my knee, who started to laugh. Alyssa smiled warmly and went outside to check on her horses and pony. I held Shailene in one hand and grabbed a suitcase in the other. I rocked her gently until she fell asleep, I found the carrier on the counter and clipped it around my back. I heard it clink and let go the of clips, then I put Shailene in the carrier and walked upstairs. I set my bags in the farthest bedroom which was spacious and welcoming. When I finished unpacking my pictures of horses and dogs and setting them on the nightstand next to the bed, I went downstairs and walked out into Aly's backyard. She turned around and laughed while saying, " you look like a mother with Shailene in that carrier." I felt my face start to heat up and Aly walked over laughing until crystal clear tears started to form at the corners of her eyes. She took Shailene from her carrier and I unclipped it from my back. The pitter-patter of her feet told me that she was heading inside and sure enough, the door closed softly. I walked around her backyard, eventually making my way to the stalls, I walked over gingerly hoping the horses were not going to spook. I saw Aly's pony stick her head out of her stall. She was an adorable pony with a grey coat that reminded me of the pony I had been partnered with in Paris. She was kind and understanding, we had formed a bond over the 6 years I stayed there. I was unable to bring her to America with me since she was in poor conditions and had a nosebleed when forced to try new things. I did not think she would be able to handle traveling so far from home. So, sadly I had to leave her behind with my apartment and new friends I had made. Eleven nudged me with her nose as she started to nuzzle me. It was though she was trying to bring me back into reality. I rubbed my face against her nose and she nickered back at me, I laughed and patted her nose as I walked away. She whinnied in protest as I closed the door behind me and turned to Aly ready to start the new chapter in my life.

"Coming, coming..." I moaned, climbing out of bed and walking down to hall to tend to a crying Shailene. I saw Sophie get up and follow me, her long brown hair looking like a haystack, but her face content. "You don't have to help, Soph, I've got her..." I grumbled, my words coming out in a garble. She smiled and followed me into her nursery, which was still being put together. "Hey, lovebug..." I cooed, picking her up and swaddling her in my arms. I furrowed my eyebrows at the fact that she didn't stop crying, and started humming to her, my hums being drowned out by her screams."May I?" Sophie asked, reaching out to Shailene. I nodded tiredly and handed her to Sophie, who laid Shailene against her chest with one hand on her neck. She softly swayed around, calming Shai down little by little. And with her voice, and started to sing a lullaby that filled the room. Her voice was as smooth as honey and as beautiful as a dove's coo, which even soothed me to sleep. "There," Sophie said, kissing Shailene's head and placing her back in her crib. I nodded and high fived Sophie, and dragged myself back to my room, drowsy from her gorgeous lullaby.
The next morning, I woke up to the smell of pancakes and eggs. I sat up in bed, sniffing the air, along with Nero, who lifted his large brown head in the air. Khalifa leaped onto my bed and curled up on my lap, and started licking my wrist. I smiled and got up, walking to Shailene's nursery, but started wide-eyed at her empty crib. I broke into a run downstairs to find Sophie frying eggs and baking pancakes with Shailene swaddled in a baby shawl on her chest, her laughs filling the kitchen, which matched Sophies. "Hey, Aly! I stole your baby, I hope you don't mind." Sophie teased, tossing some eggs and two pancakes on a plate and shuffling it towards me. "Not at all," I told her, smiling as she put a plate next to mine, and sat down. "I fed Shai the milk bottles you left in the fridge. She's as hungry as Nero!" Sophie said, taking a bite of her eggs. I laughed and bit into one of my pancakes, and made an appalled face as I chewed. "Sophie, you can cook and sing, can you stay forever?" I asked, making her laugh. "Sure!" she responded, eating more of her eggs.
"Let's go for a ride, it's such a nice day," I said, walking out back with Sophie. Shai was in my arms, her soft and tiny hands playing with my hair, which was placed into a messy bun on the back of my head. She happily squealed and dove into the tack room, grabbing her tack and rushing over to Ace. I placed Shailene into her baby carrier and placed it by Hermione's stall, grabbed my tack, and started to tack Hermione up. I had short turquoise shorts on and a yellow long sleeve shirt along with paddock boots, so I looked like I was ready to go to the beach, but I didn't care. "You ready?" Sophie asked, kicking her brown shire gelding into a walk. I nodded and grabbed Shai, mounting on top of Hermione. As I situated myself, my left hand lay tightly across Shailene's stomach (who was leaning against my stomach), and the other on Hermione's reins. I walked her out of her stall and next to Sophie, and we made our way to the cross country course, where we would have a mini trail ride. "Sophie, why do you love babies so much?" I asked, smiling as Shailene placed both of her hands into Hermione's white mane curiously. "Because I haven't met the right person, and I don't know how long it will be until I have one of my own." she said, sadly staring down at Ace's neck. "I'm sure you'll find somebody, how could you not? You're gorgeous, your voice is beautiful, you can cook, and you have a great personality. What's not to like?" I said, making her look up at me swollenly. "I don't know, I just don't seem like that type of person." she said, gritting her teeth. "I highly doubt that. There are plenty of guys that come around here every weekend for shows, maybe you could try and mingle?" I suggested, making a small smile curl from her lips, but she shook her head anyway. "I don't know..." she said meekly, looking around the cross country course sadly. "I will help you find someone, I will, if it's the last thing I do. We're sisters, remember?" I told her, making her smile and laugh. Shailene mimicked her and threw her tiny hands in the air and slammed them back down on Hermione's back, making Sophie and I break out into laughter.

Ever since my first Dressage score of the season, I had noticed that Charlot seemed to work harder. It was around 10:30 am, and I didn’t ride Jack till 4:00 pm, so I had time to goof off. I jumped in my golf cart with my wallet in my purse. I drove through the isles of booths set up till I found a “for sale stand,” I parked outside walked in. On the far wall, there where dozens of pictures of horses, that eaither said “For sale,” “For lease,” or “Sold.” In the top corner, was the same horse that got loose yesterday. At that moment, a couple walked in the room, and had there eyes set on him. “I bet he’d sell for a pretty penny at the House. Only $500 here! Shoot, we could sell him for around one grand,” the man said. My eyes widened. I looked up at the photo of the handsome stallion. “He is very pretty,” the women said. “It don’t matter, all the horses end up in the same place,” he said, “it only matters about how big he is.” I started to tremble. “Actually, I am buying that horse right now,” I said, looking at the two people. “Damn, he would have been good,” the man said, then the two of them walked out. I ran up to the front desk. “Did you hear what they were saying!” I said. The lady looked up from her computer. “No, why?” She said, staring at me through her thick glasses. “They wanted to buy that horse to for slaughter,” I said. She looked back at her computer. “All I heard is that you were gonna buy him,” she said, typing frantically. “Shoot. I just said that to save him!” I said, “I can’t take him!” “Well, he will remain for sale, with the possibility that the couple will buy him.” My face turned red in anger. “Fine. I will give him to AES,” I said.
—————
“Sorry Lilianne, we cant take him,” I heard from the other end of the line. “What!!! Damn it!” I said as I tied the haybag in my new horse’s stall. I had to rent out a stall, for there wasn’t enough room in my private barn. “Now I have to name you,” I said, looking up at the giant, muscular horse. A name rung in my mind. “Welcome, Titan,” I said, petting his large head.

"Little Shai, Little Shai, Little Shai, Little Shai…" Sophie chanted as she swung around softly with Shailene in her arms, who was smiling a small, toothless smile at Sophie. I was flopped on the couch with Khalifa sprawled across my lap, my hand batting at his face to try and stop him from licking the baby barf from my shirt. I groaned as someone knocked at my door, and pushed Khalifa away as I got up. I opened the door to find an old woman holding a cage with rose patterned blanket over it. "Hello…" she frailly greeted me. "Hi, can I help you?" I asked, placing a hand on my hip and leaning against the wall. "Yes…I am moving out of my house, just across the street, and I am moving to an elderly facility. I saw you last year driving into your estate with a bird cage and two parakeets in your front seat, and by that, I know you're a bird person, and I can trust you with my two dear canaries…" she said crackly, handing me the cage. I stared down at the cage in my hands, and could hear the male canary squeaking. I reached out to catch her before she walked away, but she was already in her car, and driving away. I walked inside to find Shailene asleep in her mobile crib, and Sophie watching TV and sketching on a pad. "Hey Sophie, our mom was a bird person, and sort of passed on that trait to us…want to help me take care of some rescue canaries?" I asked, and she pepped up, a smile stretched across her face. I set the cage on the counter and took the rose tapestry off to find a shiny gold female canary and a dark brown male canary. I gasped in awe and whistled to them, the male tweeting back. "What should we name them?" Sophie asked, singing softly to them. "Hmm…how about Edward and Bella?" I asked, and she rolled her eyes and smiled.

“Lilianne Stallings, riding Jack For An Ace, 78.6%” I beamed a smile as I looked down at Jack. I searched the stands for my rival. Sure enough, their was Charlotte. She looked away as a met eye contact. I can imagine what she would say, “What luck that someone from a poor background could get such a good score.” Though I wasn’t rich growing up, I now am sitting on a pile of money, one could guess by my property. I dropped the reins and let him walk out of the arena. “Your such a good boy!” Barely able to wrap my hands around his muscular neck. I did a quick dismount, forgetting that he was farther from the ground then Velvet. After I untacked him, I hosed him down and let him eat some grass. “Up next, Kayla Brown, on deck Rachel Gruler, and in the hole Charlotte Fanning.” I gather Jack up frantically and returned him to his stall. I grabbed my keys and started up the golf cart. I was just in time to see Rachel Gruler, who ever that was, finish. Charlotte entered the ring on, what luck, Vatican. Fourth level test 2. I snickered. She was riding the perfect horse after all, wouldn’t be surprised if she got in the 90’s. The test seemed to last forever, but it eventually ended as she canted up center line for her final halt and salute. “Great job. Charlotte Fanning, riding Vatican. 84.2%” I walked away from the fence before she could look at me. “She already beat me, great. I have 6 more rides, she has 16...” I kicked the dirt as I walked back. “Unless I get on Titan..” I shook my head. “No. Be reasonable,” I said to myself. ———— “I am so gonna die” I said as I entered the warm up arena, riding Titan. I was trying to get used to his movements, for they where different compared to my other horses. It was comfy, but all too new. He seemed to fit right in with all the surroundings. I was pleased. Such a wonderful horse, taking the bit and going round so easily, especially in a snaffle. “Please don’t let your trot be horrid,” I gave him a little spur and he trotted off. A tear rolled from my eye. He was exactly like Velvet, smooth and fast. I shook my head, not wanting the dripping of my mascara to be noticeable. Dressage, the only time I wear makeup. After a while of trotting both directions, it was time for the canter. Little outside leg, inside rein, deep seat, strengthen core. It was a splendid canter. Hear really sat on his haunches when he lifted up his front end. I got carried away to my hearts content and did a few lead changes and attempted canter pirouette, which wasn’t bad for only one of my horses being able to perform it. When I was about to try out my extended canter, the speaker went off, waking me up from my wonderland. “Attention all riders, it is now 1:37, we will have an hour of a break before tests start up again. Please eat lunch and prepare for your next ride. Thank you,” the speaker rang silent. I have to ride at 3:45, so I decided to walk out Titan and get some lunch at the cafeteria.

I was bored, lol))
“What?” I said, staring at the big sign next to the front office. “There is a Jumping Show!” I exclaimed. I was so exited. I only had two more Dressage rides left, and so far I was beating Charlotte. The shows started today. What luck. I entered my name in and I was all set. I was planning on starting off with some 0.90s and 1.10s, just to see how the horses are. I didn’t know what horse I was gonna use yet, but at least the show was pretty chil. I didn’t have any rides today, so I was planning on going down. It turns out there is some jumper rings (hunger & show) along with a Crosscountry course. “Well then, this will be a little break from some Dressage.” I jumped back into my golf cart and went back to my barn. “Hey, your back.” Just as a parked I turned to see Charlotte, as comfy as she could be, drinking a coke with shades on in a lawn chair outside my barn. “Damn it Charlotte, the sky is gray and it’s 65 degrees out! For the love of-“ “Yeah yeah, I know. I got bored. No classes today either, yeah?” “Actually, I am doing some Jumping.” I said. “Pff, Show Jumping? I thought you would do hunter! No no, lead line classes!” She laughed her heart out as I was seriously talking to her. “No, 0.90s - 1.10s for a warm up,m. Maybe a 1.50 if they are good,” I said. “Speed or Jump Off.” “Both,” I replied. An idea popped in my head. “Wanna tag along for a Crosscountry run?” “Sure, what we doing?” “3 - 4ft” “Sounds good, lets go,” Charlotte said, then collected her items and went to her barn.

"That's Lilianne, Shailene!" I told Shailene as I waved her little hand at Lilianne, who was running the cross country course with her handsome bay horse, Jack. Shailene laughed as she watched his tail bob up as he jumped, and raised her eyebrows as the lady Lilianne was running the course with had a refusal with her large chestnut horse. I waved as Lilianne trotted up to us, and Shailene's eyes rounded as she looked at the handsome gelding. "Hi Aly! Hi Shai!" Lilianne said, jumping off of Jack and leading him over to me. I traded Lilianne Jack's reins for Shailene, and she started bouncing Shai gently as I stroked the bridge of Jack's nose. Who's that?" I asked Lilianne as she made farting noises in Shailene's face. She saw that I pointed to the lady on the chestnut gelding, and she frowned. "Charlotte. She's a rude skank-" she started, but I told her to be quiet as the chestnut gelding came bobbing into view. "Hi! I'm Charlotte, and this is Vatican!" she chanted in a bratty voice, stroking the neck of her handsome chestnut gelding. Lilianne narrowed her eyes and painted a bitter smile on her face, and Shailene reached forward to pet Vatican. Charlotte drew in a sharp breath as Shailene patted her hands on Vatican's neck, and Lilianne angrily stared at Charlotte. "Stop being such a brat! She's just a baby, it's not like she'll do any damage to him." Lilianne snapped, her face red. "Ugh! See you in the ring, Lilianne." Charlotte snapped, grabbing Vatican's reins violently and turning him away. I shook my head as she cantered off towards her trailer, disgusted by her. "Idiot." Lilianne murmured under her breath, and handed Shailene to me. She mounted on top of Jack and started to walk, and I almost had to jog to keep up with his large strides. "When are you jumping?" I asked her, and she still stared off at Charlotte, who was polishing her bit. "Disgusting that she uses a bit…" Lilianne murmured, and I poked her in the leg. "What? Oh, in about an hour." she responded. "Can't wait!" I told her, but that didn’t wipe the angry look off her face.

Ring Ring!! *crackling noise of speakers* “now entering the ring, number 239, Lilianne Stallings, riding Twix for her first ride” I enters the ring and looked for jump number one, and then located the timers at the first jump and the second. I then moved my gaze up to Aly and Shailene who where watching in the stands. I did a little wave and started my course. At the first fence, I gave a little cluck cluck to ensure Twix would jump. Once we landed, I urged her on to a fast canter. Thump, thump, thump. Usually I get really nervous at shows, and assumed it was my heart jumping out of my chest. Nope. It was just Twix’s hooves on the well groomed arena floor. I barely even noticed that we made the course in 41 seconds, taking 3rd place, but there where still more people. I was happy with that for our first round. I immediately started my jump off, for I had a clear round, not wasting any time. I breathed in and out heavily after I left the arena and the next person entered. I leaned over and whispered in Twix’s ear “not bad girl, not too bad,” ~

"I'll take two quarter pounders, two cokes, two M&M Mcflurries and two medium fry." I told the cashier at the Mcdonald's drive through, and then pulled up to the window, payed, and got our food. "Thanks, Aly. I've been needing other food than sandwiches." Lilianne said, immideatley going for her Mcflurry and taking bites out of it. "Don't mention it." I told her, and started driving back to the showing area. When we got there, we both sat in the car and finished our food, and then walked up back to the stalls. Lilianne held Shailene and bounced her around, and I laughed. Velvet whinnied when she saw us, and started twirling around when we got closer. Lilianne rubbed her face and stroked her forelock, and Shailene slapped her little face gently. "Well, gotta be ready for my next ride...se ya!" Lilianne said, handing my baby back and giving me a hug.

I thanked Aly one more time for the meal. Even though it was fast food, it was nice to eat with a friend. I was very surprised that the facility didn’t have a cafeteria. I made my way to the stable in my rental golf cart. I got out of the cart once I arrived and looked. “Where is Charlotte... she should be here, knowing her.” I shrugged it off and rested in the little lounge in my barn. I had 5 house till my ride on Titan. I slept for about 30 minutes on the couch when I heard the landing of someone’s feet in one of the stalls. Ugg, I thought. I got up and look at the stalls, but no one was there. “Hey Lilianne!” “Oh my lord Charlotte!” I exclaimed and spun around to face her. She had been in my feed room. “Haha, got you!” She snicker. “Yeah yeah, so what are you doing?” “I came to steal some hay and go to Titan in his barn. By the way, what is his show name?” “Uhhh, we can go check?” I replied. I had completely forgotten to look through his pedigree. We both hopped in the golf cart with the hay in the back. Not even 2 minutes later, we arrived at his stall. I threw some hay over the venx and into the floor in the corner of his stall. “I just wanted to see what the big guy looks like!” She said. “I personally think he is a charm. I don’t really know if he is just Dressage or what.” I replied. After a few minutes, we went to the front desk and checked his show name. The lady at the front typed on the old computer and started to read off his information. “His show name is Check Me Out... would you like to change that?” She said to me, looking through her thick glasses. “Sure... how about.. Hah. Attack on Titan,” I said. Charlotte and I had a good laugh about that. We used to know each other when we where younger, and we would always watch Anime. It was just a phase that lasted a year, but we wanted to watch one in particular, known as ‘Attack on Titan’. We never did before we lost interest. “Okay,” said the old lady, unsure of why we where laughing.

When we got home, I laid Shailene down and got into my riding clothes. I walked outside of my house and to the stalls, where I grabbed El and saddled her up. Once she was ready I mounted her and brought her to the cross country course. I nudged her dapple grey sides and my pony took off in a fast canter, hopping over a few logs and a small chicken coop. I trotted her over a bridge that was going over the small lake that runs through the cross country course. I cantered her over a few more jumps, and she seemed pretty content. We finally reached a hedge, and in midair, she turned her head and saw a huge truck passing by. When her hooves hit the ground she started to buck, and I fell off onto my side. "Ow...my wrist hurts..." I moaned, and held up my wrist, which seemed a bit distorted in shape. "Holy shit..." I murmured, walked over to El, and led her back to the stables.
"Well, Ms. Coasta, it seems as if your wrist is indeed broken. You'll have to stay here overnight." the doctor said, walking out of the room. Lilianne, who was holding Shailene, looked at me sadly. I groaned and laid back angrily on the bed, expecting for a long night.

I popped a bubble that Shailene was creating from her drool while Aly sat in the recliner chair. We had been at the hospital for an hour and a half now. Aly sure was lucky that my competitions are over. The banquet was mint for another two weeks, so I have to wait in order to settle my bet with Charlotte. The Doctor walked in and broke the news. I had thought that it was a sprain, but nope. “Sorry, but it seems you have broken your wrist.” They said. The Doctor led her to a different room and we where asked to stay outside. We where allowed to look in through the giant window to watch the surgery. I did it want to watch, but I stayed until she was sleeping. Shailene put her tiny hand on the glass where Aly lay. She then proceeded to have a conversation in her own language. When the started the surgery, I headed to the waiting room. Shailene fell fast asleep. I forced my eyes to stay open. Just as a thought I had lost the battle, the doctor came for us. I stood up, suddenly realizing how sore my feet where from standing in my boots. I had come straight from the barn when Aly called me. Shailene was still sleeping when Aly woke up. She stared straight forward, then suddenly jolted her head and looked at me. It scared me. “Shailene!” She said. She started to reach out but I pulled away. “Not till you are normal again.” I said. For a while, she started to cable about a llama and a wolf, but I was unsure of what she was saying. Finally she was back to normal and I drove her home.

"Rachel Berry, will you marry me?" Finn said, kneeling down and holding the small velvet box. Rachel smiled and started to cry.
As I rewatched Glee, I started to cry and lifted my hands to my face to wipe my tears, but I accidentally hit my face with my bright yellow cast. "Ow." I said and looked out the window. I could see Lilianne popping El over a few jumps, and patting her neck after she did so. I wasn't mad at El, how could I be? Breaking a bone is not guaranteed to all riders, but it does happen. It hurts like hell, though, and I am so tired...
(How her night went) "How much longer do we have to wait in this waiting room?" I mumbled, hitting my head against the chair. "Not long. People are starting to go into their rooms." Lilianne said, looking around at people vanishing. We had stopped at urgent care earlier, and the x-ray technician said that I had indeed broken my wrist, and so he sent us to the hospital. "Aly Coasta?" a nurse called, and she ushered us back into my room in the surgery hall. I gulped-I have only had mouth surgery, but having surgery on any part of my body seems very scary. "Just lay in the bed and get comfortable. It's going to be a long night," she said and left the room. I laid in the bed and started flipping through my phone when the doctor came in and brought me back to the x-ray room. It hurt to flip my wrist, and I flinched every time he touched it. After the x-rays, I waited 3 more hours with Lilianne before they pulled her and Shailene out of the room, and put me under with a drug. While I was asleep, they reset my wrist and put a cast on my wrist. 10 minutes after my cast was on, Lilianne came into my room, and started filming me talking while I was under laughing gas. I was rambling on about sea turtles, how Jacob from Twilight looks like a llama, and how yellow my cast was. Finally at 1:30 AM, we were allowed to go home.

As I popped El over a few jumps and cooled her out. I was happy that i got the job of excising Aly's horses. I had brought all of my horses over so that I could stay and help with Shailene. After I put El up I fed the horses and went inside. I found Aly crying over Glee. I knew not to interrupt her and sat down on the couch with some popcorn. I silently scrolled through my phone and watched random horse videos. The banquet for the awards wasn't for 2 more days. I was still awaiting for my results. *Ring ring* someone was calling my phone. Aly shot a look at me for disturbing her Glee moment. "Sorry, be right back," I said an went outside. "Hello, its the AES-" "No, I'm not taking anymore horses." "That't not it. Someone wants to buy Nitro off of you." I blanked out. "I'm sorry? Who?" "Some lady said that he would be a good lesson horse, he could teach dressage students well!" I laughed. Nitro? A lesson horse? He would kill them. "Tell them no." "Um, they are offering 300K for that horse, Lilianne." "Tell them and their damn 300K 'NO' then." I hung up. People these days, I thought.

I unlocked the front door to Aly's house, thank God she had given me a key. I set my bag down on the counter and walked out to put Ace in a stall. I giggled, I could hear Glee blasting in the house with the door closed. I walked over to the side of the house and unlocked the gate, I led Ace into the stall and proceeded to untack him. I had been hoping to take him on a trail ride, but the weather became overcast and foggy. I closed the stall door, and hurried over to the large stack of hay bales, I broke them up and headed inside. "Hey Aly, can I feed all of the horses?" I asked the motionless woman on the couch. She nodded, I walked back outside and began to place the hay in the stalls. After a few minutes, all the horses were fed and watered. I walked upstairs to check on Shailene since she had been awful quiet, I pushed open the nursery door. A tall woman was standing in the corner rocking Shailene back and forth. She looked up and we locked eyes, she smiled warmly, she was tired and had bags under her eyes. "Sophy? Is that you?" She asked quizzingly. I knew who it was right away, it was Lilianne, an old friend. "Lilianne" I smiled and walked over, giving her a gentle hug. Shailene giggled and grabbed at my hair, I laughed and Lilianne handed her over. She sat down on the rocking chair, we had a lot of catching up to do.
