I'll go first "Aaaaaannnnnddddd, done!" I cheered, placing the jar of black paint on the dusty ground. I looked at both of the sides of Dorado's stomach, and they were covered with black cats, a spooky tree and a flying witch. Dorado looked at both sides of his stomach, and he snorted. "Like it?" I asked, rubbing his face with my hand that wasn't covered in paint because I painted his sides with my fingers. He rubbed his face into my hand, and I kissed his face. While I waited for the paint to dry, I put cat ears on my head and fastened my boots. I grabbed his bridle and walked over to the cross ties, where he was still looking down at his stomach. "Hey buddy, look at me," I told him, unhitching his leather halter and sticking my thumb in his mouth, motioning for him to open. After his bridle was strapped to his face, I led him over to the mounting block and mounted my tall thoroughbred gelding. He was very comfy to ride bareback. As we rode down the street, trick or treaters cooed at Dorado, and I stopped multiple times to let people pet him. "Hey boy, how about we check out the forest?" I asked him, and he just looked back at me. I unhitched the lantern I latched on my belt loop and lit it with a match, and I pushed him into a fast canter. We cantered down a field of grass until we reached the dark and misty forest. I slowed him to a walk as we entered the forest, and smiled as we ventured into it. We both heard a stick crack, and both of our heads swiveled back to see one of my friends, Emily. She was riding her horse, Aztec, and had no costume. "No costume, Emily?" I asked, and she shook her head. "Nope," she replied, and I rolled my eyes at her. Like me, she had a fire lit lantern. "I'm older than you and I'm dressing up," I told her, and she fake sighed. "Anyways, what are you doing here?" she asked, and I smiled. "Exploring. You?" I asked. "The same thing. Let's go!" she said, and we both started to venture into the forest. "What's that?" Emily asked, a little while after we entered the misty forest. I squinted my eyes and saw a light, and we both picked up a trot until the light came closer. We both halted when we saw what it was- an old, run-down stable with a single light in the row of stalls. Emily looked at me and I looked at her, and we both went forward to explore...

I finished adjusting the ragged and torn overalls that rested gently over my flannel shirt. I nodded approvingly in the mirror at the pale painted face staring back at me, I grabbed the contacts from my bedside and plopped them into my eyes, the pale, icy blue eclipsing my eyes. I smiled and put on my helmet which I had disguised as a straw hat with a piece of wheat sticking out. I whistled out to Phantom who was waiting down at the stables, I rushed down to him, throwing the sliding door open. He stared at me with his mischevious eyes and nudged at me. I grabbed his white saddle and proceeded to strap it in nice and tight, he stared at me looking excited but annoyed with the though of going outside of the stables. I placed my foot in the stirrup and flung myself up and into the saddle, I grabbed his reigns and set out to go trick or treating. After a few hours of trick or treating, I had a two pillowcases full of sugary candy and sweets. I stuffed them into my denim backpack, which was tied to Phantom's saddle, I looked out at the places in front of me, to the right was a gloomy forest, and to the left was a row of lit houses and groups of costumed kids. I looked to the right and pushed Phantom into an extended trot, a strong urge pushing and pulling at me to head deeper. We passed through rows and rows of what looked like rotting or decaying trees before I had Phantom return to a walk. I saw a light in front of me, just barely glowing in the mist and fog of the forest, we trotted towards it, my curiosity sparking Phantom's drive to explore. When we reached the light, I realized that it wasn't just a light, it was a stable, two girls were looking around, while their horses stood side by side, as if protecting each other from something. I forced Phantom to walk forward to explore, the stables, I trotted up to the two girls and with a trembly voice said, " h-hello there, I am E-Evan."

I looked behind me and saw a boy riding a very handsome Arab. I bent over and looked. I mumbled under my breath, "Oh gosh, definitely a stallion," and looked back up to the more charming side of the horse. "H-Hello there, I am E-Even" the boy said. I looked over at Felicity, who was paying no mind. "Hey!" I said, trying not to be shy and socially awkward, "My name is Emily." Felicity finally noticed. She must have been lost in thought, looking at the old stable. "Oh! Sorry! My name is Felicity. Where did you come from?" she asked. "I-I was just o-over there, trick-or-treating with m-my horse, Phantom. I heard something i-in the forest and P-Phantom walked in. He m-must have known there w-were horses here." He said, stuttering. "Well, Emily and I saw a strange light, and it led over here," Felicity said, gesturing toward the barn. "We where out exploring and w-" I was cut off. BAM!! Phantom looked over at the barn, while Felicity recovered from Dorado's side-stepping, and I held on while Aztec let out a small rear. It sounded as if a horse had kicked the side of its wooden stall. Once the horses were under control, the only thing we could hear was the horses' breathing - and my heart pounding out of my chest. No one spoke. We all looked at one another for comfort. Just as I was about to move Aztec toward the sound, a twig snapped behind us. I turned, expecting to see nothing. Instead, it was something of no mystery. LJ, one of Felicity and I's friend. "Dear lordy," I mumbled. LJ spoke next. "Was it just me or did someone hear a loud bang?" She asked. We all nodded. Then, he eyes fell upon Evan. "No one told me one of you had a boyfriend!" "No, we just met by accident." Her horse, usually calm, was prancing, one step at a time. If it were a Dressage test, it would have scored a 7 for Piaffe. Shadow must have sensed the unusual presence in the air. I looked over at the barn, then back at the three of them. "Shall we?" I asked.

I was trotting by the forest when I heard a bang. It sounded like it came from the middle of the forest. I put my horse into an extended trot. No one saw me leave, in fact, I don’t think anyone saw me at all. I was wearing all black with a hood over my head, covering my red ponytail and my dirty-blonde hair, an all-black bandana was around my mouth, covering the lower half of my face except for my eyes. Shadow, my horse, is black. And me being myself, I like to scare people. So I decided that this Halloween to blend in with the shadows. I was trotting through the forest, leaves crunching under Shadow's hooves, when we found a clearing. I looked to my left and saw Felicity and Emily and a boy? Emily and Felicity's horses were scrunched together, probably scared out of their wits. Emily and Felicity were side by side, and by the looks of it, they were exploring before the boy came. "No one told me one of you had a boyfriend!" I yelled. "My name is Evan. We met by accident." I sighed, great. "What are you all doing down here?" "Felicity here found a path and wanted to explore. So we found this place." Emily said gesturing to the old, abandoned stable, with a light in one row of the stalls. I smiled, this was going to be fun. "I've heard of this place." I said, wiping the smile off as soon as it was there. I tried to put on the, 'I'm really scared face' and apparently it worked. "You have?" Asked Evan, looking astonished. "Yeah, I've heard of this place before, my family used to tell me stories about it. They said it was haunted." I say, and as if on cue, the stall door closest to the light creaked open. Felicity put her hand over her mouth, Emily's eyes widened in shock, and Evan's skin turned as pale as his ghost make-up. My head snapped toward where it opened. I was trying to keep my cool, but the truth was, I was freaking out on the inside. "My Grandma said she came here all the time. And every time she came, she saw the lantern swing." Again as if right on cue, the lantern swung, back and forth, my mind went from freaking out, to flipping out. "I-I was just kidding." I managed to spit out. I jumped off my horse, Shadow immediately went to where Emily and Felicity's horses were standing. I tried to walk instead of jog to over to tie him up. But instead I just decided to jog. I tied up Shadow to where their horses were, and Evan did the same. "Shall we?" Emily said, starting to walk inside. "Okay, let's go into the haunted stable." I said as I walked in. Everyone else followed. I looked to the left and saw that the stable door that creaked open had shut again. "Does anyone else find it weird that that door was just open?" Felicity muttered. I walked into one of the stalls. You would think that in this old barn that everything in the barn would be disgusting, but everything looked freshly stalked. "And that everything is clean?" I shouted from across the barn. Everyone was looking at something else on the other side. I stared at them, and it seemed that they were all frozen in fear. Evan's hand was gently brushing Emily's. I'm pretty sure that he was debating to hold her hand or not. "Hey, what did you guys find?" I yelled at them. I started walking toward them, when they all whipped around and yelled at me. I screamed, "YOU GUYS SCARED THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF ME. I THOUGHT YOU ALL WERE BEING POSSESED!" They just laughed, and I smiled. "I'll get you all back, I will." I said, unable to wipe the smile off my face.

*I know that you should never tie up a horse by the reins, i'm just doing it for the RP's sake*
"We'll both go in twos. Emily and Felicity, you two go together. I will go with Evan." LJ said. "Want to explore the stables?" I asked Emily, and she bit her lip, but nodded anyways. We both dismounted and tied our horses up to an old hitching post, grabbed our lanterns, and took off to the stables. As we looked around, we observed that the stalls did not have walls, but instead wooden planks that substituted for walls, most of which were broken or not even there. "Come here." I told Emily, and I walked into a stall. There were no shavings on the ground, but instead old brick. I looked at the back wall, and there was a torn up hay bag and a waterer that was now a residency to a country of spiders. "This place scares me…" Emily whispered, looking around eerily. I pushed past her and kept walking down the isle until I saw a door that interrupted the rows of stalls. "Want to see what's inside?" I asked, and she nervously nodded. I pushed the door open, and jumped back a little as I did. We both saw wooden pegs sticking out of the walls with old, dusty saddles sitting on them. Old bridles were hung on the wall, and various forms of tack sat along the floor, including horse boots, grooming supplies, bits, saddle pads, and more. "It looks like they haven’t been used in 300 years." Emily said, looking around at all the tack. "That's because it hasn't." sounded a voice from behind us, and we both flipped around to see a boy. He was very, very skinny, had very frail hands, ruffly brown hair, and prominent cheekbones. He looked like he hadn’t eaten in days, or years for that matter. He was wearing a pair of jeans and a blue T-shirt, and was holding a lantern as well. "W-w-who are you?" I asked, and he smiled slightly. "'Name's James." he said, and I looked at Emily, who looked like she just saw something that she'll never unsee. "W-w-what are you d-d-doing here?" I asked. "I'm stuck here. What are you doing here?" he asked. "We just rode our horses through the forest and found this place….what do you mean your stuck here?" I asked, and he started walking down the isle. "Follow me." he said, and so we did. We all stopped at the end, where a picture of an old woman with long white hair was hugging a skewbald horse. "This is my grandmother, Brook. She opened this place many, many years ago. It started because she had a horse when she was a girl, and so she carried that passion throughout her life. She trained many riders and horses throughout her lifetime, including my mother. But when I turned 10, she got crazy. She would throw riders off of her horses and tell them to never come back to the stables, would shut herself in her house and wouldn't come out for days, and eventually caused my mother to commit suicide. All her life she believed in black magic. So before she died, she cursed the stables, casting a spell that never allowed me to leave. I have been stuck here for eight years. All of her horses dropped like flies, and so I've been the only living being on these grounds for as long as I can remember." James explained, and I looked at the woman in the picture. She looked so happy, but something evil burned in her eyes. I felt something tugging on my arm, and I looked to Emily, who's mouth was dropped in shock. I saw her looking at the end of the stables. I looked as well and saw a little flash of something white, which almost looked like a fluorescent tail. "Uh, James..-" I started, but turned around to see that James was no longer behind me.

I nearly panicked at what I had just seen, there in one of the supposedly empty, stood a pale fluorescent mare. I froze in fear, it was a ghost staring straight at me, eyes locked on mine. She turned herself around and faced me, phasing through the boards to get a better look at me, I called out to everyone else "g-guys h-help!" I yelled in a shaky voice, but nobody came. The mare came face to face with me, inches from my nose, I stumbled back and fell on the hard floor. I looked around for someone, anyone to come and help, I locked eyes with Emily, who must have seen the horse already, her mouth hung open in shock. She tugged on Felicity's sleeve and she turned around as well, "help!" I mouthed at them, they turned back around and ran without a second thought. All the while, the mare got closer and closer to me, I covered my head with my arms, ready if she attacked me. However, when I looked up, she was nibbling on my hair, I stared dumbfounded since, I thought ghosts couldn't touch things, unless they were dead. I heard footsteps and when I looked back, the mare was gone along with a small chunk of my strawberry blonde hair. (sorry for it being short)

My eyes wandered around aimlessly, looking for the mare that have just disappeared. Everybody was so confused, especially Evan who now had a chunk of hair missing. Nobody spoke. We were all in awe as of what had just happened. I looked at Felicity for some sort of reassurance.James was now gone and we were left alone with no explanation. Finally LJ spoke up, “Can someone explain to me what the hell just happened?” “Oh, you know just the normal. A ghost horse just came up and ate Evan’s hair.” I said sarcastically. “How am I supposed to know!” I yelled. Evan was still shaking, frantically feeling up on his head for the missing hair. Felicity was just sitting there, observing the painting of the old woman and her horse. “Should we leave now?” She mumbled. “Maybe...” we all said in a chorus. As we headed out, the lights flickered off. Our lanterns all went off at once. “Yes.. we should leave..” said LJ. As we where about to leave, the barn door closed trapping us inside. I really didn’t feel like dealing with a haunted barn at the moment, but here we are, trapped inside with ghosts and such. We heard a little squeal form on of the stalls. I ran over to see what it was. It was a foal, but this time not a ghost. It was just a skeleton. “It’s kinda cute,” I mumbled, even though it looked strange. I stepped back when it started to walk up to me, but it only rubbed its empty eye sockets on my like any other, normal, horse. I started to pet it’s head, the only place where it was possible to pet without getting your hand stuck in between rib bones or nick bones.

"Okayyyyy then," I said as I turned around. "Looks like we're stuck." We heard a whine and Emily went to go check it out. "How do we get out?" Felicity asked. "Does it look like I know?" I muttered, searching for something to help us. Something like a clue, maybe? I was searching in one of the stalls when I heard a low growl. "Does anyone else hear that?" I yelled. No one yelled back. I must be too far down in the barn. I thought. I stepped out of the stall. Standing right there, was a zombified wolf. "Shit!" I screamed. It was blocking my only exit. It started advancing on me. Keeping me inside the stall. "Okay, think." I muttered. I turned, spotting a pile of bones in the corner. I slowly reached out and grabbed one of the bones. I threw it at the wolf, and it immediately grabbed it out of mid-air. It held the bone and stared at me. I didn’t break my gaze, just in case it used that opportunity to attack me. Then it turned and ran, with the bone still clutched in its mouth. I ran out after it, but when I looked down the hallway, it was gone. The bone was dropped at the end of the hallway, right up against the wall. I ran back to where everyone was searching. "Okay so apparently ghost horses and skeleton horses aren't the only thing in here." I said panting. "What else is in here then?" Evan said, worried. "Zombie wolfs." I breathed.

"Quick, come here!" yelled a voice at the end of the stables, and there James stood, one of the barn doors propped open. We all ran out, me at the end of the line of people. As I ran out, James and I shared a glance, and we both looked away, our cheeks red. "Ok, that was freaky." LJ said, looking around. "What's that?" I asked, walking towards the old dressage arena. I saw a faint light, and more as I got closer, until I saw many different white blobs dancing around in the arena, which I made out to be ghost dressage riders. "These are the dressage ghosts." James said, peering his eyes at each one of them. I reached my hand out to touch one as a dressage ghost horse got closer, but when I touched it, my hand felt like it was dropped in a fryer. "OOUCH!" I screamed, cradling my hand. The others came and tried to fix my hand, but my eyes were on James. He was watching the dressage riders with an angry face, that drew to a scared face. "Everyone, RUN!!" he yelled, and we all took off, running past the stables and into a different part of the stable. I looked back, and what I saw made my stomach drop. The dressage horses were chasing after us, and their riders were all headless horsemen. Each of them had an evil grin on their face and their whips in the air, which had a weird blue fire swirling around them. "Under the chicken coop jump!" James said, and we all huddled under it. From what I could see, the dressage group looked around for signs of humans, and when they didn't find any, they cantered back to their arena. "James, why….why does my hand hurt so much?" I asked, dulling the pain by rubbing my hand on the wet grass we were standing on. "I should have told you before you reached out, but the ghosts on this property have a power. The dressage riders can burn people, the showjumpers can wind people and the cross country jumpers can give people hallucinations. I have suffered from these symptoms for eight years…the pain doesn't last long." he said, flashing a small smile at me. I smiled back, but it faded when I saw a herd of cross country jumpers galloping towards us, their cross country vests enflamed with red flames. I took off running, the rest of them next to me. I kept running until I felt my foot catch on a branch, and I fell. "SOMEONE! HELP!" I yelled, and James ran over to me and grabbed my hand, helping me up. As we ran, the thundering sound of the horse's jumping hooves got nearer. "Come on guys!!" Emily yelled, and we ran faster. As I looked down to check my footing, I saw that my hand was still intertwined with James's, which made me blush slightly. "You guys, in the bush!" Evan yelled, diving into the bush with Emily, and LJ on their tails. James and I jumped in with them, and we watched the herd of 15-20 ghost cross country horses scale the large course. "This place…this place is something else." LJ said, her hands and arms shaking.

I squatted down in the bush, hiding from the cross country jumpers. Felicity and James held hands for a brief instant, making me feel slightly uncomfortable since I did not have a love interest. I shook the thought out of my head, and another one entered. "Phantom... Phantom" I mumbled to myself, the worry in my voice growing ever so slightly, I tugged on Emily's sleeve, "Emily" I said " we left our horses behind, in the near vicinity of the dressage riders." The full idea of what I had said had dawned on me, I had to go back and get Phantom, I headed towards the stables but Emily grabbed my sleeve, " I am going to go get our horses, we left them with those dressage riders!" I whispered. Without a second thought, I ran out to get the horses, I was halfway there when I heard Felicity yell, "RUN, THE RIDERS ARE BACK!" I turned around to see the cross country riders barreling towards me... I have to apologize for the writing being so short, I just have to balance out a lot of homework.

"EVAN!!" Emily screamed, running after him. The ghost jumpers, seeing Evan, spurred their horses on, their faces filled with rage that he was on their course. Evan stopped in his tracks when he saw Emily, and his eyes locked when he saw the riders. "RUN!" Emily screamed, but he jumped on top of her as the horses got nearer and nearer, until their hooves went through Evan's body, which was protecting Emily. Once the herd galloped down the course, we all flocked over to the two. James flipped Evan over, and his face was white, his eyes bloodshot and his head twitching. He was whispering the word "no" over and over again, until he started to scream. "W-what's happening?!" Emily stammered, her eyes worried. "He was infected with hallucinations by the ghost horse's curse." James said, scanning his body to make sure he wasn't physically injured. "How do we fix him?" Emily asked, and James stood up with Evan in his arms. "For that, i'll need everyone's help. Come with me to the tack room real quick, and i'll explain everything." James said, and we started towards the tack room.
*at the tack room* "Felicity, Emily and LJ, take a pair of dressage gloves and mount your horses. I'll need you each to look for herbs and a cup of water. Felicity look for rosemary, Emily look for chives, and LJ look for clove. PLease also take a grain measuring cup and fill it with water in the creek, just a small ways from the stables. You should be able to find your herbs easily." James explained as we slipped on our gloves, hung our lanterns over our arms and grabbed our cups. "Good luck." he said, turning around to assist Evan.
"Hey, buddy." I cooed to Dorado as I mounted him, following in suit of Emily and LJ. "I'll go straight, Emily you go right, and Felicity you go left." LJ said, and we all took our sides. I swooped my lantern close to the ground and followed the fence that curved around the ranch until I found a bushel of rosemary growing on the side. I grabbed a few shoots of rosemary and placed them in the saddlebag I had clipped to the D-ring, and nudged Dorado on to find the water. As we walked, we saw something move in the bushes. I didn't think much of it, so we walked on, until we saw something move again, and a dim but still bright light shone in the distance. "The creek!" I exclaimed, hopping off of Dorado and scooping water into the cup. I looked down into the cup, and I almost screamed. I saw dead fish swirling around in it, and I realized that the dead fish were the water. I slightly shook my head, mounted Dorado, and rode him back to the stable.
*back at the tack room* "Here, James." I said, placing my cup of water and shoots of Rosemary next to Emily and LJ's findings. "Thanks." he said, grabbing each of our finds. He chopped up all of our herbs and placed them in a grain feeder, and then poured the water in. "Uh, James, how come the water is filled with dead fish?" I asked, and he smiled. "My grandmother haunted that river as well. She had many great memories riding her horse through it, and she made sure that I wouldn't, so every fish that dares to swim through that old river instantly dies." he explained, mixing the ingredients together. I watched as he grabbed a cup that would water a horse, poured some of the mixture into it, and then held it under his face. He whispered a few words over the mixture, and as he did, his breath came out bright and swirly, like a spell. We all looked at each other in confusion, but decided against asking. "I will need someone to help me open his mouth." James requested, and Emily dashed to his side, gently peering his lips open. James slowly fed him the mixture, and the color regained in his face, and his eyes became normal again. "Evan? Evan?" Emily asked, and he sat up at her words. "I'm ok...i'm ok." he said, and we all sighed in relief. "What did you see?" Emily asked, and he rubbed his eyes. "I saw Phantom getting hurt multiple times, and there was nothing I could do about it....it really hurt to see." he explained, and we all either gulped or hung our heads in sadness for what he went through.

I rubbed my eyes and turned away, staring at the woods and stream. "Sorry for scaring you guys", I sweated nervously, I could feel someone's eyes staring at me. I laughed awkwardly and turned around to face them, to see Emily staring at me like a hawk, I let out a squeak and hid behind Felicity. "Hide me," I whispered nervously. "You're on your own, buddy", she laughed and pushed me away, despite my protest, "Hi Emily, what's up," I said shakily already knowing she was mad. She sighed and gave me a pat on the back, "glad you're okay, just don't do that again." She said and scoffed when I tried to tell a corny joke to lighten the mood. LJ snickered and rolled around on the floor, feuling me to continue with the cheesy and corny puns and jokes. After a few jokes, everyone had joined in, LJ joined right away and I had to coax the other three into joining. We sat together underneath a patch of trees telling each other jokes and whispering as to not be heard by the ghosts and ghouls.
