*Carrot* "I'm just going for a graze, be back soon." I told Moon, who nodded and trotted off to find our daughter. I lied. I was actually going to practice control with my telekinesis, because apparently I throw rocks around in my sleep and my nose starts to bleed. Once I reached a good spot to start throwing rocks, I hurled one in the air, throwing it into a mountain. Then, I heard a whistle, and hoof clomps. I looked to my left and saw a herd of horses with weird biped animals on their back. "We've got one, boys." one of the bipeds said, and twirled a long, beige item in his hand. I reared up and started to gallop off when the object swang around my throat, pulling me back. I tried to pull it foward, but it tightened around my neck, forcing me to move with them. "Help me! Don't help them, help me!" I screamed at the horse who was carrying the biped animal. "I'm sorry...you can't get very far when you have a bit in your mouth and a girth around your stomach." the horse said. The biped kicked his sides and started to canter off, and I trotted slowly behind them, making the object around my throat tighten. "C'mon, mare. Move it." one of the bipeds on a black stallion growled. He took out a long, wobbly stick and hit my rear with it, and I jumped up and cantered next to the liver chestnut horse and biped. We were at the lead with the rest of the bipeds and horses behind us until we entered a large, wooden fort.

"Somebody help me" I heard Carrot screech, she was being lead away by the bipeds. I knew who they were and I what they wanted. I had been taken before in another life. they used me as an object to use for entertainment. They always dressed me in some strange getup and someone always was on top of me. Everyone would stared and gasp at my rich, brown coat as i moved around the track grace and speed.(i was a race horse) They were always mean and they would kick me with sharp objects. "Moon, come quick they got Carrot" They were heading this way. I saw Carrot confused and scared eyes in my head. They had caught her and they were heading towards the end of the Greenland. I took off after her not waiting for Moon to catch up. I was filled with determination, I set off hoping to bring my family back together.

"Just a stupid herd. Close the gates and keep armed soldiers at front." the man on top of the chestnut horse that was leading me said, and men on horseback and foot grabbed long objects and stood by the closing doors of the gate. "Get me out!!" I shrieked and reared up, my hooves striking the man on the chestnut horse and making him fall. "You're in for it..." the chestnut horse told me, and the man let go of my rope. I galloped around, looking for an exit, but they were all shielded by men with long, scary sticks. I felt something hit my back, and I looked to see a biped animal on top of my back with a black object. He jumped up and managed to slide it onto my nose and around my cheek bones, and was holding a long rope that was connected to the end of it. "I got a halter on 'er!" the biped screeched, and tightened the rope. He kicked my sides which made me lower my head and buck, but he grabbed my mane, fighting to stay on. I tried to to use my telekinesis to throw him off, but I was too tired from fighting, and my power shut off. "She's tired out. Throw her in the paddock." one of the bipeds on a horse called, and the man jumped off and led me by the rope and 'halter' on my face into a small, wooden fenced turnout. I stumbled on my back legs to try and escape, but he pulled my forward. Another man on a bay stallion took out another flimsy, black stick and hit my rear many times, each time stinging worse than the first, until I went in. The biped took my halter off, and I started spinning around and bucking, hoping I would somehow wake up from this dream and be laying at Moon's side. But I never woke up. It was real.
"Wake up, mare." the biped I knocked off growled, and slid the same 'halter' around my nose. He hit me with the black flimsy stick until and as I moved, and he tied me up to a post. "Help!! Help!!" I screeched, but the horses shook their heads, some looking sad and some looking like they can't watch. A man walked behind me with a long, black iron stick. The end smelled of smoke and fire, and was a blazing orange color. It was shaped with the word 'BROOD', and he kept coming closer. "HEEEELLLLPPPPP!!!!" I screamed, but the horses just turned away in sadness. The man snickered and pressed the stick into my side, and it hurt was harder than the long, flimsy stick. It burned through my skin, and pierced my fur. I was being branded. I am their pet.

I ran faster than a bolt of lightning, I passed some strange object on the way there. It was made of wood and looked strange. I walked near it smelling the borders. I kicked the front part that looked like an entrance. it didn`t move but there was a crack. I pressed my ear to it and I heard grunting and a man cursing under his breath. " you are too hard to control you stupid mare." I kicked the door again and again. I decided to leave the structure and come back after on my way back. I ran off again looking and looking for any traces of Carrot. I ran into a dark cave only to be confronted by a large set of glowing green eyes and sharp white teeth through the darkness.

Later that day, another one of the biped animals approched me with a large leather object, felt square and something similar to a 'halter'. "Ready to be broken, mare?" the man asked, a mean look on his face. He lifted the felt square and let me sniff it and see if I was okay with it. He didn't let me get a good enough of a wiff and he threw it onto my back, scaring me. I tried to back up, but I was tied to a post, and the rope wouldn't let loose. "What the hell?!" I shrieked as he threw the heavy leather object onto my back and tightened a thick and wide rope around my stomach. The object was very bulky, curvy, and had a small line sticking out of the top of it. The biped then grabbed the odd 'halter', took my 'halter' off and tied a rope around my neck, and shoved the circular part of the odd 'halter' into my mouth. It tasted odd, and tugged on my lips. He tied the strings attatched to it around my neck, and released the rope. "Lets ride." he growled, a smirk on his face.

"Where's Carrot and Ace?!" I scream. "Ace? Ace is gone? And Mom?!" I hear Rosalie scream behind me. I turn around, I see a scared expression on my sweet Rosalie's face. "I'll find them don't worry, you're going to stay here, I don't want to lose you too," I say. Rosalie opens her mouth in protest when Taio cut her off, "Yeah stay here with me. I'll comfort you after the loss of your friend." He said. "No!" She shouted in protest, "First of all, he's my Ace. Second of all, she's my mom. Third I'm old enough to go on my own! I'm going." She said, "Then I'm going too." Taio said. "No, I need some time away from you," Rosalie practically yelled at him. "Then that's that," I say. "Let's go Rosalie."

"Get on her!" "Don't be afraid to smack her!" "Kick her!" The voices of the bipeds rang in my ears, making my brain spin. The weird 'tack' was on my back, and bipeds were lining up behind the small paddock I was in. One of them had a smaller black stick and a smirk on his face. He walked up small steps and grabbed the small stick popping out of the object on my back, put his feet into the curved straps hanging down and mounted on my back. "She's somewhat short, but comfy." the biped said, grabbing the ropes that were attached to the metal item in my mouth, and tugged on them. "Ready?" a biped from inside the larger turnout asked, pulling a latch that enclosed the small paddock I was in to the larger turnout. The biped above me nodded, and the gate opened. I bolted out, twisting and turning as he kicked my sides with sharp, round objects. He smacked my rear with the small black stick, making me buck and rear. I decided enough was enough when I jumped in the air, making him fly off and land in the domesticated horse's feeding crate. I trotted around, moving my tongue to try and get the metal item to release from my mouth, but it wouldn't. "C'mon, mare." the biped that opened the object that separated the two paddocks said, and grabbed the ropes attached to the item in my mouth. I backed up and dragged him with me, and took off, bucking, kicking and jumping until his arm cracked. I shook my head and he launched to the side, hitting the fence. He stood up screaming, his arm bent and crooked. "Someone grab the gun!!" someone yelled, and a biped walked forward with a small black item in his hand, facing me. He was pointing it at me until someone hit it, someone that looked different than them. She had a small brown ponytail, and wore different clothes. She grabbed the gun and smacked him on the head with it, and then mounted atop my back. She pushed me into a gallop, and I jumped the fence of the paddock, leaving the open gates of the evil men's fortress. She galloped me a different way than my herd, and I was about to protest, but she just saved my life.

"You know he's going to follow anyway," I say to Rosalie. "I know..." She says sadly, "I just don't want to be with him every single minute of the day." "Young love is weird. You just have to know how to control it." I told her. We were trotting in the direction that we heard Ace screaming when all of a sudden I see a horse running in the opposite direction than the large wooden box thing that we were approaching. "Is that Mom?" Rosalie asked me as we broke into a canter. "Carrot!" I yelled. There was a weird biped animal on her back. I snorted. "Human..." I said. "Human?" Rosalie asked me. "Humans! Worse than the Tribals!" Rosalie's eyes widened, "Worse?!" She screamed, "Then we need to save Mamma!" I started to slow down. I hate it when I canter. Then I have to-"Dad?" Rosalie screamed ahead.-sneeze....
"ACHOOO!" I'd done it now. Ice started to spread everywhere. Carrot and Rosalie's hooves got stuck in it. "Great," I mumbled. The human dismounted Carrot. "What...?" I heard her say. "How is this possible...?" She was pondering what happened when I trotted over to Carrot. "You've done it this time." She said. She rubbed her nose against mine. "Is Rosalie alright?" She asked. "She's right behind you," I responded. "Stuck in ice?" Carrot joked. "Yeah," I said. Then she laughed. "How's Taio?" She asked. I looked behind Rosalie and saw Taio-eyes wide-stuck in ice. "Stuck in ice" I say. Carrot giggles, now you have to find us a way to get out of here." She laughs at me.

"We have to leave.." the biped said, mounted on me, and made me gallop again. I could hear their mad whinnies, but I had to...she saved me. She took me through many plains, and before I knew it, it was night. We were at a small house with a pasture, and another horse. The biped dismounted me and took me into her backyard, took off my tack and put me in a stall next to another horse. A gelding.

And just like that. My beloved Carrot was gone again. "How many times does this have to happen?!" I asked myself. "What was that thing, Dad?" Rosalie asked me. "A weird biped animal that speaks our language," I told Rosalie. I see a horse in the distance walking towards us. "Ace!" She squeals, I smile. "How are ya Ace?" I asked. "I'm just fine, but I wouldn't think that you are!" He said. Rosalie started to rub her head against Ace's neck. "I missed you!" She said, "Why have you been avoiding me?" "I didn't want to 'interfere' with you and Taio." Ace said his cheeks turning pink. "Please speak to me again!" Ace's cheeks turned red. "You know, I remember what happened under the tree." She said airily.

I jumped the fence and ran, wanting to find Moon. I heard his whinnies, and followed his voice. Then a rope tightened around my neck. "MOON!!!" I screamed as they dragged me away. It was the same bipeds as before. "CARROT!!!!" he screeched back, and I heard their galloping hooves as dust was kicked up over the hills. "More horses!" one of the bipeds said, which made me screech. "RUN!!!" I yelled, but Moon came closer. The bipeds tried to rope him, but Moon cut my rope, and I galloped over the hill with him, away from the bipeds.
Later that night, I explained everything to them, and Moon looked territiorial, Rosalie frightened, and Ace angry. I never realized how grown up they looked, for magic foals grew very fast. "What happened after I was taken?" I asked, and Ace and Rosalie threw each other glances, and Moon rolled his eyes. "We're officialy a couple." Rosalie said, smiling at Ace. Then, a pain filled screech filled the air. Weall looked around, and it happened again, and Rosalie jumped up. "TAIO!" she screamed, and galloped out. Ace rolled his eyes and galloped after her. I followed, searching for Storm's son. The bipeds had him in ropes, and they tied him up so much that he collapsed. He laid on the ground, screaming and shaking. Rosalie reared and striked her hooves at the bipeds, cutting the ropes in the process. Once he was free, they galloped the opposite direction. I followed, and saw her nuzzle the scars where they hit him with the long black sticks, and help support his weight, as Storm did to me. "Storm deserves a second chance.." I said out loud, watching as I saw my reversed reflection.
If you don't understand what I said, she is remembering when she went to find Moon, and she was hurt, and Storm helped support her weight. She is watching her daughter helping Storm's son by supporting his weight when he was hurt, so it's basically a reversed reflection.

I looked at Carrot. Then at Ace. Then to Taio and Rosalie. My mind was racing. Who are they? What do they want with us? Those questions only appeared a couple of times in my mind beyond the fury of questions that are unanswered. "Moon?" Carrot said softly. I hadn't realized she had put her head down to my chest to check my heart rate. "Your standing unusually still, and your heart rate is unusually fast, are you alright?" She asked me in a soft tone. "I-I'm fine. Just a lot of unanswered questions." I said. I shook my head and shifted my weight. "We'd better find someplace to hide until we can get back to the herd," I said to the others. "I see a cave over there." Ace said. "Then let's go!" Rosalie exclaimed, "I'm exhausted."
When we reached the cave, Carrot covered the front up with rocks using her telekinesis. Rosalie layed Taio down who was gasping but making a slow recovery. Ace went over to Taio and attempted to heal him, but Taio kicked him before he got close. "I was just trying to help." He murmured.

"I was just trying to help, Taio you are such an ass", I screamed into his face. He stared at me, his face clouded with pride and confusion. His mouth twisted into a smirk but was suddenly wiped off when I slammed my hoof into his face. He snarled at me but shrinked down when I growled back sending some of the small rocks falling in front if him. He slunk away in a state of shock and fear, I snorted in anger and walked out into the plain to get some fresh air.

*Rosalie* "Don't listen to him, he's just territorial..." I told Taio, who was grazing a little ways away from the makeshift herd. "Why? It's not like he owns you." Taio remarked, lifting up his large head and breathing heavily. "He just gets that away. He didn't have much as a foal, only me and my parents." I responded, making Taio roll his eyes. "I didn't have much either. My sickly mother lives in a cave. She hasn't been able to move for the past four years. I have had to bring her food every single day and night, and fetch her water in a tree bark shaving for her. My father ran off to the herd when I was born to escape reality, and met your mother. Unlike my mother, he fell in love with yours, and ran off with her to find your father. He would've left my mother dying in the dirt if she asked him to run off with her on a mission. My mother only told me good things about him, because she was scared he'd come back and try to be a father again. Well it turns out that my jerk of a father imprinted on you, and died protecting you. If I needed protecting, he would've left me to be eaten by the wolves. All I want is someone to love, and if that is too much to ask, I mineaswell just join him, wherever his spirit went." Taio spat, walking off to the herd. I stood in shock, my heart torn into two pieces, one that belonged to Taio and another to Ace.

I stood out in the field letting the wind blow and swish my mane around my neck. I could hear Rosalie gently talking to Taio and helping him sit down. I could hear them talking about how Taio's mother was left behind. All he could do was complain to Rosalie about his sickly mother, I could not take it. I whipped my head around and stared straight at Taio. I screamed at him, " If your mother is so sick, why are you here flirting with Rosalie and not helping her get food. I mean you have been here for a while and if your mother is as sick as you complain about, you should not leave her in the cave by herself. You are the only thing she has left, and you left her behind!" I fumed at Taio and Rosalie walked over and nuzzled against me trying to calm me down. I gently pushed her aside and walked closer to Taio, I snarled at him, "why are you here and not with your mother." I breathed. He sat frozen stiff and his voice came out in a stutter, " i-I fell in l-love with R-Rosalie." I stared straight at him and sighed I walked off into the field to get some space.

*Rosalie* I stared at Ace. He could piss me off to the max sometimes. "Come on, Taio. Let's go look for your mother." I told him, and the handsome Friesian stallion stared at me. "You're…going with me? I thought you were with him." Taio spat, and I bit my lip. "I was…but I feel differently now…" I said, and watched him stand up. He flashed me my favorite smile, and we walked away. "Wait a minute…" I said, and trotted back to the field. I saw Ace's face light up as he saw me, but darkened as he saw Taio. "Ace…I'm so sorry. Please tell my parents I'll be back soon. I'm sorry." I told him, and he stared at me blankly. I knew how this hurt him, but the heart wants what it wants. (Sorry it’s so short! " Rosalie wait!" I called out to her. She came rushing back to me and I sighed ready to tell her the truth. "I…I did originally love you when we first confessed our feelings, but over time I started to treat you more like a sister that I needed to keep safe and happy." She stared at me as though she knew the whole story. "Ace, Are you saying you were just saying we were a couple so you could keep me safe?" She questioned. "Yes, I did it to keep you safe, but I knew when you saw Taio, I knew I needed to step aside." "Taio, I am sorry for being an ass to you, can we just be friends, Rosalie deserves better than me… I guess that is you." " Rosalie, I truly love you as a sister, never forget that." "when you find Taio's mother, I will help heal her, it is the least I could do for you." I insisted. He smiled and they trotted off into the distance side by side. " I will be waiting for you two lovebirds!" I yelled at them. I smiled and walked back into the cave to enjoy some sleep.

I was confused, Ace told me last night that he loved Rosalie like a sister, and Rosalie said that she had decided, and Taio said that he was just going to go find his mother alone. Yet, I’m watching Roaslie and Taio now, walk off towards where Taio came from in the first place, Ace just standing and watching. “Being young is a beautiful thing isn’t it?” I hear a voice from behind me, Carrot. “Jeez Carrot, you scared me.” I say turning around and nuzzling her. “And to answer your question, yes it is a beautiful thing.” She smiles, I know it’s not what we thought, but still to basically have Storm in the family, it’s kind of nice.” She said, almost whispering. “I know, he’s a close remembrance, are you sure you’re ok with this? Is it just going to hurt you more?” I asked, she leaned into me, she was silent for a minute, then she spoke, “It’s not going to hurt me more than it already is, which is basically nothing at all.” I looked at her, concerned, “Are you ok? You can talk to me you know.” She sighs, “I know.”

"Irona!!!! Irona, wake up!" I shot my head up, then hit it on the roof of a shallow cave. "Oww" I groaned. "what the-," I looked up, my vision was dazing in and out. Once my eyes focused, I saw Ironica, standing in front of me, crouching down. "Your so dumb Irona!!" she yelled at me. It we strange, having been yelled at by myself and all. I didm't fight it. My usual self would have slashed back with words, but no. I sat, quietly, taking it all in. "You killed a horse! You, you killed your daughter's best friend! You know what horses in a herd do to horses who kill? I had to drag you into hiding!" I looked at my hooves, I was still curled up on the the floor, where no light enters the cave. "I am sorr-" "Sorry doesn't cut it!" She screamed at me this time, letting out a laod voice crack. It was all to strange. I just only met this horse, but she is... me. Only god knows how long we have been hidng. I completely forgot that one might mistaken her for me, so she was forced to hide too. My stomach was feeling unsettled. I couldn't even imaging seeing the pain in Carrot's face. I realized that Ironica was still yelling at me, but I had tuned her out. “How long have we been hiding for?” I asked. She looked at me, raged now. “That’s the only thing you care about!?!?” Within half a second I stood up, careful not to hit my head again. Now that I began to get mad, my magic automatically was at its strongest, blue. “Shut the hell up and tell me how long we have been here for!” She went silent. The darker colored markings in my coat now turned a dark blue. Sparks of blue electric snapped and popped from my teeth. Electrical currents ran through the ground around my hooves. My clone looked down, avoiding my eyes and mumbled, “5 days 14 hours and 23 minutes.” “How-“ I remembered about her telekinetic powers. “Never mind” we both went silent, making 5 seconds feel like hours. This little brat has been hiding me for 5 days? I thought. How are we both alive.. how long have I been asleep for?!? “3 days. You woke up on the 2nd day, only for a few seconds though. You probably don’t remember.” Damn you and your telekinetic powers... “I can here you,” “ugh” I said. “We can’t hide forever!” An idea popped in my head. I looked over to Ironica “Are you thinking what I am thinking?” She looked up at me, smiling. “Yes, literally.”

I sat staring into the darkest crevice of the cave. I sighed and pawed at the hard, rocky floor. The floor barely cracked under the strikes of my hooves. It was like my power, it feels like it is endless. After all, I had grown so much since I joined my new family. I tested my head on my front legs and slowly gave in to the tempting idea of sleep. *in my head, dreaming* I stood up and looked around scanning my surroundings for any sign of danger, there was none to be seen. I sighed in relief and walked to the nearest cherry tree. It glimmered in the light and reflected a vision, a sad vision... it was Starhoof... he was dead.

*Evanescence* "Come, herd," I told my herd, flicking my grey tail. They followed me as I trotted through a grove of cherry trees, listening for the whinny I heard. It sounded painful like someone lost someone they loved. I heard it again and my ears flicked forward, causing my legs to go from a trot to a gallop. I squinted my eyes and saw a horse in the distance, and he was swirling around what looked like a body. I squealed out to him, and he whinnied back. "Herd, forward!" I yelled, and the followed. I slid to a stop when I got to his side and looked down at the body, I saw a black horse lying dead on the grass. I then looked over at the stallion. He was grullo with white sock markings and a blaze. He was...handsome. "Help...please...I don't know what to do!" he squealed, tears falling from his eyes. "No. He's gone. Let's lay him to rest." I explained, and he sobbed a little bit harder, bowing his head down. I faced my head towards the ground with an angle and focused really hard, and a hole in the ground broke. I then grew willow trees next to it with an assortment of lilies, roses and poppies surrounding it. The stallion stared at me in shock for a second and then shook his head. I helped him move the stallion into the grave, watching sadly as tears dropped from his eyes. Once the stallion was laid in the grave, I covered it with dirt and grass, and laid two roses on top of it crosses on top of each other. "Thanks for helping me, but, who are you?" he asked, and I smiled. My herd watched intently from the sidelines. "I'm Evanescence, the leader of the country herd. We were living back in the country amongst the buckwheat fields, but we were driven out by the power crazy Starhoof who was looking for a mare by the name of Carrot...weird name. But we battled him and we were driven out." I told him, and his eyes opened in shock. "I'm Ace, and the horse we just buried was Stahoof..." Ace said, and my lips grew into a smile. "What's your story?" I asked him as we started to walk away from Starhoof's grave, my herd behind us. "I used to be in Starhoof's herd as a foal. My dam passed away, probably from abuse from the other stallions, and I ran away. I met a mare named Carrot and her foal Rosalie, who I was head over heels for. Rosalie and I were best friends for a while until she met a stallion named Taio, who is the foal of her dam's best friend who imprinted on Rosalie and passed away protecting her. I knew she was in love with him by the way she looked at him, and then she finally left with him to find his mother. I left their makeshift herd at that point, because my heart is broken. That was only a few days ago she left. It feels like salt in my wound when she left, like she didn't hurt me enough by falling in love with him." Ace vented, his eyes showing pain and heartbreak. "That sounds terrible... I'm so sorry." I told him, and he smiled at me, his eyes clouded with crush and embarrassment. "So, what's your side of the story?" Ace asked, and I smiled. "I was born into this herd. My dam was at the bottom of the pecking order as a wheat retriever, which was basically a slave that collected wheat for the herd to eat. They banished her from the herd when she failed to retrieve wheat one day because of her torn muscle, and she ended up collapsing and dying in front of my eyes when she walked away from the herd due to malnourishment. Something clicked in me that day when she died. When I got to the age to promote to warrior, I did, and became the top fighter for the herd. When the election came for deputy and leader of the herd, they elected me deputy and my friend Cash leader. Cash was a good leader, but he ended up dieing in battle against the forest herd. I was then crowned leader, and according to my herd, I am the best leader they ever had. So, due to that, the medicine horse granted me with earth powers, which was my choice of power. I am able to move nature, control it, and befriend it." I explained, and Ace stared at me in astonishment. "You are so badass," he said, and I smiled, embarrassed. “Oh god,” I mumbled under my breath. Ironica, my twin (clone), kicked me in the leg. I sucked in my breath, trying not to squeal. It hurt. “Shut up!! Do you wanna get caught?” She said. My body let out a faint glow and a few sparks dropped from my coat. Don’t get mad, I thought. I turned my attention back to the gathering with the weird herd I knew nothing about and Ace. I felt like I was colicing. It made me sick to think about anyone I was related to. We had planned on making a huge entrance to the herd where Carrot, Strider, and Moon where. Nothing felt better than to refuse an order from that hot-headed Friesian stallion. “Don’t get to cocky,” Ironica said. “Strider might pummel you straight into the ground if your not careful.” “Can you perhaps NOT read my mind for 2 seconds?” I said. She just gave me the stink eye. First we planned on kicking Apex’s ass for the little clone he mad of me. I stared at Ironica. I don’t think of her as a clone, but more as a sister/twin. Is she even living? I thought. At that moment, she looked away. She must have heard me. Though Apex was my first best friend, I don’t plan on going easy on him. We where still waiting for the little ceremony to end so we don’t get caught. Something jumped out of the bushes behind us. We both turned out heads around. It was a small coyote. It started to walk closer. I didn’t want to kick it, but I didn’t know weather or not it was gonna try to bite us. I pretend to lift my leg up as if I where to kick, but it kept coming. I looked up at Ironica, her gears where turning. She was thinking hard. “What is it?” I asked her. She looked a little closer then turned fearfully to me. “It’s not an animal,” she said. I looked at her. “It’s a damn coyote, what do you mean ‘it’s not an animal.’ Look at it!” “I’ve seen these before, it’s a machine.” I heard a faint beeping noise. “We have to go!” She said. “Why?!?” “It’s a machine, made by a horse rumored to be in these parts. He is a loner and often implants bombs inside,” she said. I stared hard at her “that seems very far fetched,” I retorted. “Don’t believe me?” She walked up to the ‘machine’ and said, “Password, unknown.” The machine froze. A voice from inside said, “Incorrect. Time remaining, 12 seconds.” She screamed, now the heard had found us. I bit her tail and within no longer than one second blue sparks spun around us. With a loud zap we where teleported to a field. “We are safe I said,” catching my breath. It takes a lot of work to teleport without warning. I looked up to find the one person I didn’t want to see. Strider. “Son of a-“

I trotted alongside Evanescence, even though Starhoof had died, there was a small wink of gratitude along with the sadness. If he hadn't kicked me out of Wildherd, I would have never met my new family. I tripped on a rock causing my right leg to buckle, I fell sideways. I closed my eyes bracing for the impact of the soft-yet-firm soil. When I opened my eyes however, I had not hit the ground instead, I was being braced by Evanescence's flank. I thanked her for catching me, "sorry about that Evanescence." I was usually pretty good at catching myself, but today was different, "It's okay Ace, it was a simple trip" she calmly replied. She signaled for the herd to stop at a nearby river to get a drink, I backed away from the river nervously, knowing all too well what had happened there. I shivered in fear and pain, knowing that this river had almost taken my life the year before. Evanescence turned around to face me, realizing that I was shaking, she walked over to me. I let the flames engulf my hooves, mane, and tail I usually dealt with my emotions by letting my magic reign free for a while. It had always kept me from getting too upset and I was totally fine afterward. Evanescence stared at me alarmed but not fearful, she approached me but, she didn't get too close for comfort. "What is-" I cut her off, "it is my magic, it is connected to my emotions." I repeated the line as though I had told it a million times. "Why is it doing that?" She looked puzzled but eager to know why. I sighed, "I nearly died here last year when my parents tried to drown me because of these." From up until that point, I had kept my eyes grey, but I let the true colors show. She looked at me confused but accepting, she signaled for the herd to continue and I phased into a small cat. I liked to sleep in a small form when my magic was being used, the flames would last for a little while longer. I jumped onto Evanescence's back and fell asleep to the rhythm of hooves hitting grass and rock. I woke up, Evanescence had stopped, I heard a screech, it was Irona. I hopped off of Evanescence's back and ran towards the sound but she was not there, only a coyote. I bent down to look at the coyote, it was too late for me to realize it was a bomb. The timer ticked down to zero and a large blast of heat and fire burst through the trees and brush. I was flung backwards and I slammed into Evanescence's hooves, I mewled in pain. I got back up slowly but surely, I was a bit wobbly and unsteady but other than the injuries I had, I was okay. I saw Irona pop up in a field with another horse, she looked oddly similar to Irona, I called out to them and they did not respond. It was just a vision, but I called out to her with my magic.

"What is this? What happened?" I yelled, advising my herd to follow with a flick of my tail. Two dapple grey horses appeared, one snickering and the other with a dumbfounded look. The snickering one galloped off, and the dumbfounded one followed. I shook my head and looked to Ace, who looked back at me. I galloped off after the two horses, Ace phasing back into a grullo stallion. They stopped when they reached a small hill with horses crowded on it, and I gasped in dumbfoundedness. Starhoof's herd.

"Carrot, hi!" I hollered as loud as I could possibly manage. She looked up at me and I galloped down towards her, it took a while to do so with my limp. She was cautious and nervous, I guess that I looked like I was charging at her. "Why do you have Starhoof's herd?" She questioned, I hung my head low and stared at the floor. "Starhoof is dead Carrot, we buried him back in Wildherd territory" I looked up shaking off the sad vibe I was giving her. I smiled happily, it had been so long since I had last seen her actually standing in front of me. I watched two dapple grey horses gallop off, Carrot charging right after them. I phased out of my cat form and sighed, following Carrot's lead. She stopped suddenly, we had reached the base of a small hill, there was a large shadow looming over us, Starhoof's herd was perched on the hilltop. She gasped in shock, probably from the large number of horses staring down at her. "what's the matter Carrot?" I asked, after all this was my first herd, she seemed to be confused almost scared by their presence. Carrot didn't respond to me, I nudged her worriedly, I had never seen her like this.

I ignored Ace and looked at the mare next to him. I pinned my ears and lunged at her, pinning her to the ground. She squealed and used some of her fighting tactics from her herd, and she kicked me off. I lunged at her again and bit her shoulder, and she started to bite my neck. Ace split through us, his face troubled. "What. The. HELL!" he squealed, and I stared at her over Ace's back. "This Biatch drove Irona and I away when we were hungry after fending for ourselves, herdless, and we ate some of their precious wheat. They hurt my mama. I hate you. Every other herd preaches about how amazing of a leader you are, but all you really are is a cold, heartless, self centered ASSHOLE!!! My mama could barely walk and for months, and I had to feed her because she couldn't move or chew herself. You and your warriors hurt her very, very badly. I hate you." I yelled, rearing up. Ace nipped at me slightly, and I still eyes her angrily. "Herd before all, retard. I had to feed my herd! That's my duty as leader. I must feed my herd, protect them and serve them. I can't give all of my food to a herdless who had a suck up mother who couldn't find a herd to save her life." she said, and I wanted to kill her so badly... "Don't talk about my mother that way!!" I yelled and tried to get around to her, but Ace blocked her. "Carrot, calm down!" Ace yelled, and the mare's eyes opened wide. "Your the mare Starhoof was looking for..." she said, and my jaw dropped.

I didn’t dare to look back from where a came from. Carrot & Ace would be a good distraction for Strider. As much as I wanted to see Carrot, Ironica and I had to find Apex first. My mind raced faster than my hooves where moving. Who planted the bomb? Why are they after us? Ironica must have been listening in. “Let’s focus on finding Apex first, then we will deal with this whole bomb situation,” she said. It was surprising. Now that I think about, multiple people want us dead, but it really hasn’t sunken in yet, I thought. “Yeah, sounds like the best plan that I’ve heard in a while.”
